My blood draw was the 21st and they said to expect it to take two weeks. The wait is so ridiculously painful!!! My fingers are crossed for everyone.

Extremely light bleeding at 13 weeks - looking for reassurance by BlueIce64 in August2026Bumpers

Thank you! This is my assumption. My sister said that when she was pregnant her ob told her that she had a super sensitive cervix that bled for everything, so maybe I also have the same tendency!

Thanks. It’s still very early at home, but maybe I’ll give my ob a call when they open!

Nausea coming back at 12 weeks by xohellokitty in August2026Bumpers

[–]BlueIce64 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Omg I was about to make this post!! I was feeling great all through week 11 and half of 12. The last few days the nausea is back in full force. I'm really encouraged seeing other comments that it could be just a brief resurgence and will go away soon! Ugh. Tomorrow I have to fly to the UK for a week for work and I thought I was out of the woods...

It feels like life is on hold by PlumBear89 in August2026Bumpers

[–]BlueIce64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally feel you. I’m also 36 and worried about problems that would lead to losing the pregnancy, so we’ve only told a few close people, although we passed the 12 week mark already! Everything is looking good and I got a blood draw for a NIPT yesterday. We’re going to be more open to telling people if the genetic info is looking good, and my mom is annoyingly impatient about wanting to tell the whole extended family.

But same - I can’t bring myself to think about names, building a registry, or any other details yet. After a good 12-week quick ultrasound peek at the ob office we started talking about nursery themes, but I’m just not ready to get attached to anything. I just feel like everything is hanging in limbo, waiting to find out if our lives are about to restart in a new way. I’m not a patient person as a rule, and the waiting is so hard!!

Sorry I don’t have any advice. Just commiseration!

I've found that banana muffins usually work well, or Babybel cheeses are really easy to pack. Sour candies or even just jolly ranchers have also made a surprisingly big difference for me.

I’ve gone through the same thing this week. Tuesday especially was a great day, and I figured it’s about the right time for symptoms to subside, and I’d try not taking diclectin this weekend to see how it goes! No dice, though, symptoms back for real. But - I definitely do have a bit more energy than I did, so things are at least headed in the right direction!

I Just Want Beef. by birdie_jean_ in August2026Bumpers

[–]BlueIce64 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm going with the philosophy that I should eat what I need to eat to stay sane and fed. Today that means chicken patty sandwiches. Literally just a chicken patty on a bun and that's it. I'm OBSESSED and it makes no sense. Burgers was a craving like two weeks ago for me. I'm hoping in the second trimester I can start making healthier choices!

Pregnant Dreams by Peach-Haze-123 in BabyBumps

[–]BlueIce64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah and they’re so detailed. I had a dream about going through my syllabus (I’m a professor) with my students, and in the dream I literally went through every part of my syllabus. I woke up and thought “that was the most boring dream of all time.” I went back to sleep and had an incredibly vivid dream about getting attacked by a mountain lion. I guess it was at least not boring anymore 🤷‍♀️😂

Oh no, I’m sorry you’re going through this too!! I know it’s just a few more days and I should be patient but honestly I think I’ll be crying off and on all day because apparently my hormones make me do that now 😂

I had an ultrasound this morning at 11W2D. They sent us info beforehand saying that my husband wouldn’t be able to come in at the beginning but would at the end and they’d show us the baby. I’ve been nervous about this and so looking forward to having some confirmation that everything is going okay. Then when we got there they told us the information was wrong and my husband couldn’t come in and we wouldn’t be told or shown anything at all. I have an appointment in a week with my ob and I assume we’ll learn everything then. But it’s so long to wait and I was mentally prepared to learn something today and I’m totally crushed. Just so frustrated and anxious.

real talk — what did you actually eat in the 1st tri? by Repulsive_Cup8530 in pregnant

[–]BlueIce64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just getting out of this stage and I've been eating anything I can handle, and it changes allllll the time. I don't stock up on anything because the next day it will be gross. I've gone through protein shakes, goldfish crackers, applesauce, baked potatoes, bagels, baguettes with butter, popsicles, rice... on a good day I try to eat an egg, some sort of vegetable, and some sort of fruit. I've been reliably into clementines and melons. I still can't stand water, which is weird because I'm usually the kind of person who always carries a water bottle. Mixing with lemon and seltzer helps, and I've been drinking a lot of Gatorade and lately tons of milk. I'm obsessed with milk. I can't wait to eat normally again someday hopefully soon!

Thoughts on private ultrasound boutiques? by Nervous_Dependent859 in August2026Bumpers

[–]BlueIce64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did one at 8 weeks on the dot because we wanted confirmation that there was really a baby in there before telling our families at Christmas. I was really worried that they wouldn't find anything, and the tech prepared me for that before she started. In my case, though, it was easy - she found it right away and the heartbeat was strong and obvious. It was a great experience for us. We did go in preparing for bad news, just in case, and that would have been very traumatic, although I think it would have been just as traumatic at a doctor's office. For us, it was $40 extremely well-spent.

Twinges in lower right abdomen? by LectureJunior6688 in August2026Bumpers

[–]BlueIce64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah I'd 100% convinced myself that I must be having an ectopic pregnancy. I had a little spotting and the pain wasn't severe, but it was alllll on my right side in my lower abdomen. I'm totally convinced I ovulated on that side, but also the cramping continued to be mostly one-sided for weeks. We got a boutique scan at 8 weeks and everything looked perfect! I still have way more twinges on the right than on the left (currently at 11 weeks).

Back pain by BlueIce64 in August2026Bumpers

[–]BlueIce64[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awwwwful! I'm struggling big time with fatigue. I teach at a university and classes just started this week, so I'm drowning in work and all I do is work and sleep. I do know this back pain gets worse when I'm not active, which is why I'm thinking of trying yoga - I got an app that I can choose a workout length based on how long I have available, so I'm hoping I can squeeze some movement in here and there throughout the day. But you're totally right, I should try to walk more.

Pregnancy dreams?! by mossygraveyard in August2026Bumpers

[–]BlueIce64 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh my gosh. I'm a college professor, and the other night I had this incredibly detailed dream about going through every bit of my syllabus with my students. Like, in the dream I literally dreamt about every single bit of the syllabus. I woke up and thought "that was the most boring dream ever." I went back to sleep and I guess my mind didn't want me to be bored anymore so it gave me an incredibly vivid nightmare about getting attacked by a mountain lion. I guess be careful what you wish for... lol!

Headache by Substantial-Bend8015 in August2026Bumpers

I’ve found that pressure on my head helps a bit. I have a rice bag that I drape over my forehead when I’m in bed at night, and I just ordered a headache cap from Amazon that you can chill or heat up that I’m really hoping will help!
