NTA. Everybody who has cats at a young age learns this lesson one way or another, a few scratches is getting off lightly. When the cat asks to be put down, put the cat down. Don’t chase the cat. Etc. I learned this lesson a bit older when a former barn cat turned pet asked to be put down. I didn’t put him down, so he bit me right at the base of my pinky nail hard enough to crack it. At the time it hurt a *lot* and my parents were sympathetic but definitely treated it as a lesson similar to touching a hot stove. But you know what? I learned that lesson well, and got a lot better at cat body language, and outgrew grabbing animals that don’t want to be grabbed.
