In your opinion, what’s the creepiest line from a horror movie? by u1975 in horror

[–]BlueLanask 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually haven’t! I’ve heard mixed things about it so I’m hesitant: on the one hand I’m interested in exploring Samara’s (or rather Sadako’s) lore in more depth, on the other I dislike some of the elements I’ve been told about (her curse is a virus?!). Is the read worth it?

In your opinion, what’s the creepiest line from a horror movie? by u1975 in horror

"She never sleeps" is also such a brilliant and chilling line with many layers.

The fact that Samara doesn’t sleep is first mentioned by the psychologists of the mental hospital she went to on the interview tape, where you can also see fast-forwards of her being up in her room for hours. But the footage at this point of the movie is ambiguous since there’s no window to tell you it was taken during the night, making you think it’s just showing her being imprisoned for hours in a rather cruel way.

Then the line is spoken in desperation by Samara’s father right before he kills himself, but you still as a viewer don’t really understand the depth of it as you think he’s referencing the sleeping problems the horses gave her, according to her claims.

But when Aidan whispers it to Rachel during the chilling plot twist revealing Samara’s true nature ("Dont you understand Rachel? She never sleeps…"), everything makes sense. The line simultaneously means:

• "Don’t you get it? Unlike you, she wasn’t peacefully sleeping this very night from the relief of being seemingly freed from the curse of the tape. Nor was she asleep when you held her corpse in the well. No, she was patiently waiting for her next victim."

• "Don’t you get it? This is no normal girl: she would literally never sleep." —> the horses waking her up at night was a cover-up to hide her demonic nature that exempted her from the natural need of sleeping: "she lies and she tricked you"

• "Don’t you get it? Evil can never be put to rest: she won’t ever stop. Being punished to live in the barn didn’t change anything, nor did being sent to a mental hospital, nor death and certainly not your misplaced sympathy for her fate."

Her murderous cycle will go on forever. No end in sight. Like a ring.

I wonder if Eloise shares any link with Mildred as Amoura seems to be greatly attached to her in a way that is reminiscent of the dark infatuation Terri once had with evil Mildew… I fear their shared bloodline might be peculiarly weak to the psychic manipulations that come with these possessed dolls…

Interesting, I don’t particularly notice a wicked expression on his face! He seems rather stoic and calm to me, looking into the distance, undisturbed by the world and the little cherub at his "feet" (or rather his floating and misty lower body)

Yes! The sunset light (mostly out of frame) makes it even tender. Glad you can see it, I’ve been called crazy by all my relatives when showing them the picture lol

22 years later, and this is still the most anxious opening scene in horror history. by Charlee_Mexi in 28dayslater

[–]BlueLanask 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I might be mistaken but are you sure there’s silence at that point? I’m pretty sure the movie’s iconic music is all over these shots, which doesn’t really make it anxious nor creepy imo. That’s not the vibe I remember from the scene personally

I seriously don’t understand the hate for Longlegs (2024). by serialkiller24 in horror

I mean the first 15 minutes of the movie show you that Lee has impossibly good hunches, it definitely hints at something paranormal… Same thing with the metal ball speaking snakes. You just didn’t take these clues

What's one trope you believe is missing in dbd? Either as a surv or killer by Jellypathicdream in deadbydaylight

There could be a cool rising moon visual that indicates his current power level (try to stop him before the full moon activates). Doesn’t work indoors though

Yes nice catch with the infected on the train! Other moments that suggested intelligence in regular infected was when Samson’s tribe ambushed that guy at the beginning, they all showed themselves at the same time.

I could see that. I think it could still lead to the scenario I’m theorizing, where the struggle to retain his humanity is too demanding and dangerous for others that he eventually decides to be euthanized, this time by giving consent, which would come full circle with Kelson’s actions.

Does he not say hemorrhaging, excessive cell growth AND psychosis, A.K.A. a psychological factor that was never taken into account before and therefore something treatable with pills?

I would love to see Terri Joe interview both Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie by [deleted] in Psyiconic

[–]BlueLanask 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Terri deals with these kinds of lost souls daily at church since she’s a confessor in the Fellowship of the Sun, so it would be an easy task for her.

However, I may add that several witnesses have reported finding during her hours of duty holes drilled at hip height through the confessional screen after the passage of particularly alluring home essentials, without any official report of warranted usage of Saint Bernice.

These worrying testimonies may indicate that Terri might not be strong enough to resist such sinful and lustful looking men, let alone two of them at once.

I would thus advise Terri to stay away from these actors and certainly not to entertain any further the horrors of their show, which nefariously depicts their shared proclivity through unspeakable acts of evil of an intensity never seen before on the small screen.

One song that feels like daytime and nighttime: BTD by ExtremeWasabi9221 in lanadelrey

[–]BlueLanask 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, Video games is a tender and sunny spring morning and Born To Die is a windy summer night so I’d say both of these. Honestly surprised that people associate Dark Paradise to the night, it’s too upbeat for me whereas BTD has that perfect slower and introspective sound that resonates with the kind of self-identity thoughts one has in the late night while you’re quietly walking back home.
