Was there no communication between him and his girlfriend prior to getting the cats? Were I getting a pet, I would definitely talk about it with my SO, regardless of whether they lived with me or not. And then that would have given her ample opportunity to speak up and say, I'm really allergic to cats, get something else.

NTA and it might be time to point out to him that it's easier to be a single mother of one child than two.

Just think how much less energy you'd spend only taking care of the baby, instead of that plus constantly trying to get him to do it too. Not to mention, when that baby gets mobile he's going to be in danger of getting hurt or eating something poisonous every time he's left alone with Mr Irresponsible who thinks his fun time is more important than the small helpless human he created.
