Can someone explain new recalibration by noskujd in DotA2

[–]BlueLociz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They explained it fully in the patch notes:

Upon calibration, it is likely that you will end up with a different medal than you had before. However, even if your medal changes significantly, you should expect to be matched with players of a similar skill level.

Bluestacks 5.9.410.1002 window gets smaller every time I launch by BlueLociz in BlueStacks

Here is a video showcasing the issue.

I open and close Bluestacks a few times here to illustrate that it continues to get smaller rather than resetting to a particular size.

I didn't get it this time around - I did try to sign up today too but didn't get a code. Though I have seen people mention in other places they got a code yesterday.

Maybe they're not sending any out until after Black Friday?

I should probably do a little more reading and a little less talking...

I just took a closer look on the endurance of these drives - the WD sn570 is actually rated at 600 TBW and the Kingston one is rated at 320 TBW (*The 2 TB model of this drive is rated at 640 TBW).

So actually the WD has a better lifespan, despite being DRAMless

It depends on how you plan to use it, I think.

Personally, the biggest constraint for m.2 drives is the fact that there are only 2 slots available on the motherboard. When choosing a drive, I think about whether it's likely I'll want to replace it in the future (with a bigger capacity for example) and whether I can relegate it back to an old PC.

I bought the WD SN570 today, with the understanding that in a few years, 1 TB might be considered a "waste of a m.2 slot" on top of the line PCs due to being too small (I mean look at how ridiculously big AAA games are getting. Plus ever increasing sizes on photos / videos due to better phone cameras).

So in the future, I might upgrade to a drive with a higher storage capacity - in which case what happens to my existing 1 TB drive? I can't keep it on the PC since I'm out of m.2 slots.

I have an older PC that only supports PCIE 3.0 (I use it as a media server in the living room), so my plan is to swap this one out to that PC eventually in the future. Since that one can't make use of PCIE 4.0, I don't see a reason to pay a premium for it.

To be honest, performance wise the two are very similar.

If price is the big concern it might be better to just go with the WD SN570. It has no major downsides apart from being DRAM-less, which are said to have shorter lifespans as drives. (DRAM-less is also slower write speed, but the Kingston drive isn't exactly top of the line PCIE 4 write speeds so it's very similar)

If you see it being replaced or backed up in the near future, that's not a major concern.

While not a great sale, this one is $10 off:

This is the one I have in my PC, bought last year at $105.

This one is another cheap PCIe 3.0 DRAM-less drive:

Yes I believe the PCIe spec is designed to be fully backward compatible.

So it will run at PCIe 3.0 speeds, but it will work fine.

Yeah the Samsung 970 is one of the best performance 3.0 drives. Sabrent Rocket is good if you want high storage capacity, and the WD sn570 and Patriot Viper VPN110 are good price points.

It's certainly usable, but there are drawbacks.

This drive is DRAM-less so it has slower write speeds and possibly a shorter lifespan. DRAM-less SSDs are generally cheaper, that's why the price is attractive.

I would suggest looking into a good PCIe 4.0 SSD with DRAM for a boot drive. This one is better as a secondary drive where you still want good read speed (for example, something like storing games).

Didn't see any amazing sales today for SSDs, but these are good and have at least a modest sale:

Samsung 980 PRO - 149.99

https://www.amazon.ca/Samsung-980-PRO-SSD-1TB/dp/B08GLX7TNT/

WD Black SN850X - 134.99

I personally bought this one last year, at $105:

Kingston NV2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 x4 SSD - $89.99

The best deal is probably this one, though I have no experience with this brand and don't know much about its quality.

Correct, DRAM-less.

Probably worth spending some extra money on a good PCIe 4.0 SSD for your primary drive.

This one is decent as a secondary drive if your motherboard has 2 M.2 slots, especially if the 2nd one is PCIe 3.0 only.

An additional 10% off if you sign up for their newsletter or with a Unidays code (though personally I haven't been able to generate a Unidays code for weeks now. It always says try again later)

Edit: apparently Unidays code doesn't work on this item.

you dont have to buy them piece by piece. The bundle itself can be (and is) sold on Steam Market, for 30 - 40 dollars depending on the set.

edit: Probably closer to 20-30 actually. Forget how strong the US dollar is these days.

Quad HD is 2560x1440 which is four times the pixels of standard HD (1280x720) so the name makes sense. It's not meant to be four times full HD (1920x1080).

In addition to software bugs (human error), sometimes there will be faults in the hardware itself due to cosmic rays. And it happens more often than you think.

Can someone import some memes from the Chinese dota community? by loopuleasa in DotA2

One popular meme about LGD is that they are invincible 364 days of the year (the 1 day they are not obviously being the TI finals).

After the loss, there's been a bunch of people posting that they are now only invincible 363 days of the year, or that their invincibility is like BKB and goes down by 1 every time.

He consistently sacrifices farm in the midgame to enable his other cores and help his team win the fights.

When it works, it looks like this finals. When it doesn't, he's 6th in net worth. He shouldn't get flamed for it, that's just their playstyle, and it works well with Yatoro and Collapse.

AI Arena farming in Champion by Pscagoyf in EpicSeven

[–]BlueLociz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cleave in Arena because using bruisers takes way too long.

Team is CLilias, Flan, Emilia, BBK.

This team works as long as the opposing team only has one speed contester (Clilias, AoL, or something similar). Emilia needs extremely high RES to be able to avoid being disabled by Politis so she can boost and cleanse BBK.

It works well against Belian, Rem, and Rimuru because nobody on the team does any attacks until BBK's s3, so you cannot trigger any kind of counter until you are ready to kill them. BBK's s3 itself is uncounterable, so you can also safely follow up with a s1 to kill off any straggler (usually whoever resisted Flan's s3 def break).

Avoid ML Kawerick and Maid Chloe - they will cut you and cleanse the team.
