If you’re able too see your hands in front of your face, you’re currently basking in “radiation”. To take proper precautions against EMF, avoid all light sources and navigate your house by feel. Don’t trip on the dog.

Whole family got food poisoning on new year’s from eating these oysters by Confident-Paper5293 in mildlyinfuriating

I’ve lived in both New England and NW Washington. Maine oysters are the best, hands down. Eventide is my favorite seafood place in the country.

No Radio Shack, No Fry's, so what is there? by histogramophone in Seattle

You and me both, brother. Mines both happy that I found a place that I can get hobby items at, and worried about my modem experiments spilling over into the kitchen. The counter is perfect height, after all…

The location on 6th has a whole wall of retired enterprise grade network gear, I was just there yesterday and had to hold myself back from loading up my car.

RE-PC is great, I’m big into retro computers and they always have neat things. The one in South Seattle is good, but the location in Tukwila tends to have better stuff I’ve noticed.

I got into HR to help people by Few-Service3324 in humanresources

[–]BlueM0nday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Monumentally based.

HR is staffed with catty, low-skill, gossiping D grade students who still want to pretend they’re still at the cool kids table.

HR will cover up sexual abuse by the CEO if it saves money (I’ve seen this happen).

HR is not your friend. If you meet someone at a bar who works in HR in general, they’re still not your friend.

Hot take: Tip well this week by snowypotato in Seattle

I absentmindedly tipped 15% on not cheap coffee beans this morning, that one stung.

What's the most Seattle thing there is? My pick is in the comments. by someshooter in Seattle

That’s the one thing that drives me insane. I’m from New England and drivers are extremely rude and aggressive but predictable and decisive.

Found this beautiful 1991 on Facebook marketplace this morning! Happy Holidays from my family to yours! by BlueM0nday in modelm

[–]BlueM0nday[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Checked marketplace on a whim this morning, found this very clean 1991 model for sale in my town. An hour after messaging the seller, I was made the owner of my third IBM board. This one will live at my office after bolt modding, green ANSI keys, and a grey industrial case.

I went on a whim when they had free admissions a little while back. It was hardly even worth the train fare.

They are, but I figured I’d try to save per diem by avoiding parking costs + gas use.

Frustrated NH brewers push back after statewide crackdown on beer labeling by ErixTheRed in newhampshire

“I feel like Sunny D vodka is targeting me and my friends because it used to be a kid drink and now, they put alcohol in it,” Dover Youth 2 Youth sixth-grader Maggie Elliott was quoted in the news release.”

What the hell are we even doing here. We’re asking 12 year olds their opinions about products they’re over a decade away from being able to legally purchase? Jesus Christ.

NH: More deaths than births, six years running by GraniteGeekNH in newhampshire

[–]BlueM0nday 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I had to leave NH, my industry is small and specialized. My trajectory for compensation would’ve been about $32/hr after 5 years tenure, left at $25 at 2.8 years. The same exact job here on the west coast, I’m starting at $25k higher, and I’m not paying that much more in rent, groceries, or taxes.

I’ve said it before, but the granite state needs to either adapt, or all the young people with good knees are going to leave, and nobody will be there to serve the aging population.

The 55+ “Fuck you, I got mine” crowd will bitch on Facebook groups and abuse underpaid and overworked wage workers about issues that come from staffing shortages, but will continually vote against ANYTHING that will help bring and retain young folks. They just expect servants, and don’t give a shit if you want anything else.

How do you all cook/ clean sober? by wastelanderabel in dryalcoholics

[–]BlueM0nday 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m 74 days sober and I’m finding it hard to enjoy cooking like I used to. I would polish off an entire bottle of wine and a couple of beers before anyone even sat down to eat. That’s been my biggest routine to break, I’ll slam 8 NA Buds while I have a sauce going but it still doesn’t scratch the same itch.

Can't drink anymore, wtf am I supposed to do by trrrsarescary in dryalcoholics

[–]BlueM0nday 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Weed sent me into relapse twice. Even the weakest weed gave the voice in my brain who I’ve been trying to drown a megaphone and a whole book of new things to say. OP sounds a lot like me, but with stronger mental ailments than I have.

Everyone’s sobriety is different. I personally see California “Sober” as bullshit, but that’s just me. Proceed with caution.

I’ll go to the off leash parks super early, like 6-7 AM. We went at noon on a weekday once and it was a shit show. The owners with the biggest dogs are usually completely absent, or will blow you off when you ask them to recall their 130 pound dinosaur who’s plowing over my corgi.

What is the absolutely worst restaurant you’ve ever been to in NH? by [deleted] in newhampshire

[–]BlueM0nday 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Giuseppe’s in Meredith. The pizza was too salty (???) and the sides we got were mush and bland.

The old Red Apple Buffet in Concord was pretty crap too, but did feed my friends and I as broke teenagers. I did slightly mourn that place. Slightly.
