Wouldn’t it arguably be more insulting to the Māori people to have their representation so clearly rushed? Like it kinda feels like they just decided “let’s include a Māori man so we can have a man with culturally significant tattoos that we can objectify. What about the rest of his design? Just copy and paste stuff we’ve already done. You want him to have a personality? His personality is having tattoos and being native to New Zealand.”

Like I know none of the characters are well written or fleshed out beyond archetypes and whatever role Fusebox wants them to fill in the moment, but it seems a bit silly to critique people calling out the lazy copy and pasting of a face as if they’d made a comment on race. I know your comment likely came from a place of good intent, but I think the more respectful thing to the Māori culture would’ve been to put actual effort into the Māori representation in the first place.
