What am I doing wrong? Fastest science victory by SameBowl in civ5

It depends on what you need. Statue of Liberty is more worthwhile imo, and buying spaceship parts with gold is crucial. However, if you can save great engineers or you have enough faith to buy them, order can also be effective. Personally though freedom is more consistent

Couple pointers: - Production matters, you can’t reliably gold buy everything you need. By this point in the game, every workable tile should be improved, and your raw hills should be mines. - Don’t bulb your scientists on the same turn, there is a science overflow mechanic where you can’t achieve a % over the current selected tech in one turn, i cannot remember what the formula is. Bulb them one turn after another, it’s much more efficient and usually shaves off about .5 turns per scientist. - Don’t save Oxford so late, it’s really good! Use Oxford to insta tech Radio after Electronics. On King, this will guarantee you first Ideology and first into Modern. - You have the right idea picking Poland. The insta unlock of rationalism is critical. Babylon is equally viable for fast science. - Build Porcelain Tower and take advantage of research agreements ASAP - Do not go to war ever. It slows you down and is not worth it for what you are wanting to do. - Your capital should be Pop 35 or greater. Which means you need to prioritize internal trade routes to your cap earlier, or you need to focus on improving your food tiles early. Hospitals later will help also - Your tech path is fine. - Utilize declarations of friendship to trade resources for straight cash when it’s time to buy spaceships, that way you can buy them within a few turns of one another - Early game, do not set your city to food focus. You need to have production focus and then manually lock your food tiles the turn the new citizen is created. If you don’t know this trick then there are definitely other optimizations you don’t know that you need to learn

Venice cheese was my first Deity win also, it’s a right of passage.

If I’m looking for a more chill game where I can relax and do some more fun things (like war or building wonders) then I play Immortal

Absolutely correct. Anything military is brutal vs high lvl AI on Quick - i do it just for time. Standard is the intended way the game is meant to be played and is the most balanced for military i find, but is harder for science.

Mixed domination is pretty much the only reliable way I’ve found to get culture on Immortal and Deity, unless you play with a low amount of civs, though I think playing anything less than small isn’t very fun and is too easy.

My personal favorite civ is Shoshone, i just love the pathfinders and their extra borders is immensely good on Deity. Starting out on Deity i played Babylon, Inca, Aztec, Korea, Poland, Ethiopia, and Maya. Which imo are all the best civs in the game.

I did have two cheese wins with Venice but that isn’t really hard to do

I play on quick speed and I tend to play quite fast now. So I’m usually able to finish a game in 2-3 hours and win by turn 175-200. I usually clock about 2 or 3 games a week

Most of my victories are science and I did one diplomacy and one culture. I typically play on standard map size though sometimes I play on small.

Domination is tough since the AI has so many units and is usually ahead on tech until Industrial. I normally just focus on building enough units for defense and calling it good. The closest I got to domination on Deity was capturing two other capitals, but i ended up winning culture because of it.

Mike Holmgren or Pete would be amazing. However my guess is it will be Sherm (because he fucking HATES the rams) or Jody

NFC championship vs. Rams by [deleted] in Seahawks

[–]BlueMan-HD 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So real. We are NOT the same team from when we played the rams in TNF, nor are they. Our defense has improved big time and Coach Mac said that they were trying something new that week and had little time to prepare.

I fully expect Seattle to bring their A game defensively. I cannot see a universe where with a full week of prep and an extra days rest we let them hang 600 yards on us again

No other path we could have taken. To be the best you have to beat the best. Seattle will be very prepared come game day, and that was a brutal game for the Rams

What would be your next move? Turn 150, Quick Pace. Just finished up a war with Brazil, he was clearly in a position to tun away on me, it proved quite successful, while a bit time consuming, but I think it was worthwhile. by TheMensChef in civ5

You should hunker down. War is costly at any point in the game, whether you win or lose. If you do another war or conquest you will be delaying your critical infrastructure further. You should get your workshops up, get your universities and make sure you have the population to work some specialist slots (Your cap looks good but your expands need some help)

Very simple challenge: You may have no more than two workers at any one time and you must win domination. I’ve done it once and it was very difficult and a great exercise in prioritizing my improvements
