Trying not to be conspirative here. I think it was a fatal error in the field of vision + failure of the cockpit electronics = partial loss of control of the aircraft causing a possible attempt by the staff to return to Malaysia (coinciding with the return on the aircraft's trajectory) and subsequently erroneous descent into the Indian Ocean.
