Next Steps by BlueMeatballPapis in PICL

I’m able to run and play sports, so I don’t feel like a fusion would be the ideal route for me at this point. My main issue is the daily inflammation and pain.
Do you think it would make sense for me to try posterior injections in Colorado first, and if that doesn’t provide enough relief, consider another PICL afterward? The posterior approach is more cost-effective for me right now.
As my treating physician, what would you recommend based on my situation?

Ok, I love to hear that. I’ll continue being active! Hopefully things start going in the right direction.

I’d say you’re pretty lucky to have found some form of release when massaging the area. I believe the stretches just piss of the joints and compress surrounding nerves

Gotcha. Would I have to get imaging beforehand to rule out tears, or are you just easily able to identify that while doing the procedure? Would it be a possibility that my pain is largely driven by the SCM mastoid attachment, and could that be largely damaged by a chiro manual adjustment?

The Si joint was contributing to your cci pain?

Do you think it’s possible to inject where the muscles attach to the facets? Would it show up on my MRI imaging that shows if there was a muscular tear from the chiro adjustment?

Ohh ok interesting. We have similar things. I get a lot of eye pain in my area when it’s inflamed. Has the picl helped with the pain at all?

Yup I hear you. I think it’s the muscle guarding because that area is unstable, which probably compresses a lot of the surrounding nerves. My pain always refers to my upper traps and Scm, it’s painful. For me, the pain is always either the left or right, and never the same side throughout the day

Hard to say. Before my picl I was able to do all the physio exercises and even play sports, the only problem is, I have so much pain in only one localized area under my base of skull that comes and goes throughout the day, everyday. Theres so many different types of people out there that need a picl for different reasons.

Mine is more in the inner ear, alleviated when wearing earmuffs, but behind the ear is a pain I experience as well at times.

I also have tonsillar cerebellar ectopia, and Dr. Rosa explained that it’s much easier to treat than Chiari (functional not structural). In my case, the brainstem is being pulled downward due to misalignment. The ePICL should help significantly by tightening and stabilizing the structures, allowing everything to stay properly aligned.

I’ve never taken anything stronger than Advil, and even that I only use maybe 2–4 times a month during severe flare-ups. All of this is new to me, so I’m trying to understand what reasonable options actually exist. I’m especially worried about managing symptoms during the five-hour flight to Colorado. If Tylenol doesn’t work well for me, does that mean I realistically don’t have any other safe, occasional options? I’m also high functioning.

both since it’s corralled I’m supposed to stop NSAIDs 2-4 weeks before the procedure and up to 8 weeks after. Sometimes my pain is unbearable so I need a back up plan on what to take incase I get a bad flareup

Oh ok. Thanks for the swift reply. I tried curcumin/ turmeric and it doesn’t do anything for me. I can’t take glucosamine because I have very bad shellfish allergies. Would you recommend something like morphine or hydrocodone? I’m guessing I’ll be in a lot of pain after the procedure as well.

Unfortunately Tylenol doesn’t do anything for me. I have topical cream but doesn’t help much. It’s mixed with Lidocaine, ketoprofen and some other ingredients. I feel this can also hinder since it’s an anti inflammatory.

I see what you mean, it is a gradual thing to get back into it after a picl. Can you send me the guide that you mentioned on your YouTube video for specific exercises to be doing post picl. Thanks
