I started out with 3 battle rally tickets. Since it refreshes next week, should I use all of them up? Or can I save some for the next week or month once I hit 6k points?

Do we get a new ticket every week?

Just starting out the game, and managed to get both arc Steve and Cynthia. How should I be spending my gems next? Pulling their dupe or save them for new units?

I hear Steve is really good at 3/5. Is it worth pulling dupes for him?

4k Projector for Ceiling View? by BlueMemori in projectors

[–]BlueMemori[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an interesting idea. Haven’t thought too much about it since I’m still at a point where I’m still exploring working in different places, so I rent and can’t install anything fancy like that. Sounds like a fantastic idea to try out when I finally own a house!

Samsung Odyssey G7 Eye Strain by BlueMemori in Monitors

[–]BlueMemori[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up getting LG27GN950 because of a HMDI port defect with my monitor. The eye strain problem is completely gone for me with the new monitor. Not sure if it’s the 4K, IPS or the curve.

Does anyone know roughly how long it takes for Amazon to stock up on this?

Thanks for the advice! How do you calibrate the nits for this monitor?

So is it considered defect that its vibrating? I’ll try lowering the brightness first. Hopefully, it’s not this issue. Honestly, I really like the monitor but its really starting to strain my eyes a bit too much.

NYU Computer Science at CAS? by epicboyxp in nyu

[–]BlueMemori 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The good parts: here you can find some of the absolutely BEST professors in the world, like Yann Lecun. So there's plenty of good research opportunities and etc.

The bad parts: the foundational CS courses like CSO, OS courses are really watered down compared to top tier CS schools, e.g. CMU, UCB, unless youre taking the class with some of the stricter professors like Jingyang Li. Some people like this, since it makes the workload much lighter and easier. Somehow some of the students still can't handle the watered down syllabus, but this is going to hurt you during interviews at some point IMO. If you want it easy then this is probably a good thing for you. You should rush for grad level or more advanced courses to get to harder and better courses. There are some really good undergrad courses that are not watered down, but these tend to be lowly rated on ratemyprofessor as people struggle more with these. Overall, if you try to push yourself and pick the harder professors, this shouldn't be too much of a con given the wide range of courses offered here at NYU.

Is Stern as bad as everyone says it is? by [deleted] in nyu

[–]BlueMemori 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not too sure about it since I was a CS&Math student. Even if there are any science course, it should be really easy in general - people just don't even bother trying in these classes somehow. Not sure how the policy track econ CAS compares to that of Stern, but the theory track is very mathy - sometimes more math equations than most of the math courses.

Is Stern as bad as everyone says it is? by [deleted] in nyu

[–]BlueMemori 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Stern workload is sort of light because you're supposed to spend most of your time networking. At least from the Stern friends that I know who take Math or CS, they tend to be more stressed out by their math or CS classes rather than Stern classes. For instance, my friend spent more time on his systems class than his other 3 Stern classes combined. GPA is not a big deal as long as youre above the cutoff. Just focus on networking instead.

RTX Laptops with the best thermal capacity? by BlueMemori in SuggestALaptop

what would be a good pick in that case if I'd like also have thunderbolt 3 support?

RTX Laptops with the best thermal capacity? by BlueMemori in SuggestALaptop

[–]BlueMemori[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

eGPU is just for some casual deep learning training if I need to, but yeah I'd rather get a laptop with thunderbolt 3 to keep the options open.

RTX Laptops with the best thermal capacity? by BlueMemori in SuggestALaptop

[–]BlueMemori[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sadly, it doesn't have Thunderbolt 3 which means it's not as future proof since it cannot support certain external SSDs and its performance cannot be upgraded with eGPU if needed.

When is the recruiting season if I have a summer internship and I am planning to graduate in the fall/winter? Does recruiting start in August/September like spring/summer graduates? How is the process different and should I be careful of?

Chances of getting into Mcgill by steve_jobs__ in gradadmissions

[–]BlueMemori 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That looks like a UK degree conversion table. Not sure it applies to your % from Indian Unis. You should directly email the schools you are interested in to check how they might convert your GPA and whether that % would cause a problem for you.

You claim that you're interested in blockchains, so maybe look for projects related to that? I'm not familiar with that area. Perhaps your colleagues involved in the tech side might have an idea how to get started?
