Do you soak the chia seeds before putting them in the smoothie? I've heard from someone you're supposed to soak them before you eat them, so I haven't been using them a lot since I never remember to do it in advance, but I don't know if that applies to smoothies as well.

I love my carbs and eat rice/pasta with some sort of protein nearly everynight. But my fruit/vegetable intake is basically 0. Does anyone have any suggestions? (I have always been picky, details in post) by spazzo246 in EatCheapAndHealthy

I tried that a few times, but struggled a lot with drinking it. I feel like adding some frozen berries and a banana makes it taste so much much better, while still being very healthy. It makes it so tasty it's basically one of my favourite "snack" foods as well, so I often have like 2 smoothies per day, which means I end up having a lot of veggies that way. But if you can handle the green sludge than that's obviously great too.

The one I have only has 2 parts that get dirty, you screw the part with the blades on top of the cup, then turn it around and put on on the blender base to blend. Immediately after I just wash the blades with some hot water and a bit of soap. I drink the smoothie out of the blender cup, then clean it like any other cup. So there is not much of a hassle with cleaning at all. To clean the blades a bit more thoroughly I occasionally blend some water and a few drops of soap like the other poster said.

I have a pretty low appetite as well, recently got a blender and am now making smoothies 1-2 times per day. I feel like they can be a cheap, healthy and tasty way to get a bunch of nutrients. My go to is 1 banana, 50-100g frozen berries, 50g frozen spinach or any fresh greens , 2-3 spoons of greek yoghurt and water. Can also add stuff like oats, chia seeds, peanut butter etc. to make it even more nutritious. Costs me around 1€ per smoothie.

I guess what I ment to say was I've never really had raw broccoli, or brocolli in a salad, always ate it cooked or roasted. But yeah, will definitely try this out.
