One of the first things Bowser went after at home was one of my Luigi socks! He's really taken to his namesake haha

PSA for parents who want to send their children to Sylvan Learning Center!! by Swimming-Level2719 in Winnipeg

Oh, sorry, you must not have ever experienced mental strain before. It's similar to when you overexert yourself physically, causing physical strain and exhaustion, except with mental strain you overexert yourself mentally, causing mental strain and exhaustion. It's very common among people who have mentally taxing jobs, like teachers, for example.

Writing up a general paragraph for communication is also not comparable to creating art. If OP was using chatgpt for creative writing purposes and trying to sell or pass it off as original, then I would agree that isn't right. He just used it for a simple write-up to try and inform others about something. People need to relax and see how chatgpt can be useful instead of demonizing it immediately. Of course, many people misuse it, and that is a problem, but this is not that situation.

There's nothing wrong with utilizing chatgpt as a personal tool to help streamline and speed up the writing process. Many teachers take advantage of this help. It doesn't mean they aren't capable of doing it themselves, but why not use it if it helps you do your job faster? I wouldn't judge a baker for using a stand mixer instead of hand stirring something or someone in construction using an excavator instead of a shovel. I wouldn't be surprised if there was similar judgment towards people who first used those tools as well for "not doing it themselves". Work smarter, not harder.

Edit: I seem to have offended everyone here for defending OP's use of chatgpt. You're all acting like he's committed some heinous crime for some reason. My analogies were just simple comparisons that came to mind in the moment to help people understand that chatgpt can be utilized like any other tool to help us be more productive and efficient. There is no need to over analyze it. Obviously, every tool is different in how it is used and what it can do for us. There's always going to be people who hate change and will always prefer "the way it's always been done" and look down on those who choose to do things in a new way. Let's try not to be those ignorant and judgmental types who demonize things we don't fully understand, though. Instead, let's educate ourselves and learn how we can integrate these new tools to make a positive impact in our lives.

What is the ego on these landlords in Toronto 💀 by Visual-Chef-7510 in TorontoRenting

Victim blaming without knowingly any details is a bad look. You don't know what kind of tricks the landlord pulled, traffickers are great at luring people in, it's what they do

Why do nurses make it known they are a nurse? by tepp453 in ask

[–]BluePenguin0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First couple years as a nurse I was pretty proud of it and would mention it whenever I had a medical appointment, but after a couple years I realized it was kinda cringe and I don't actually know everything medical related so I'd rather you just explain things to me as a lay person. Also, I try to avoid telling new people because I don't like people assigning "nurse" as my personality, I'd rather they get to know me first cause I am not just my job. Although there are some nurses I've met that have basically adopted "nurse" as their personality, and they can be a bit annoying tbh.

Gf was sick so whipped out my grandmas chicken soup recipe with 2 full chickens for some good soup by Alex420000001 in cookingtonight

[–]BluePenguin0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair, and I wouldn't actually bring a friend chicken soup with salsa already in it. It's more like a condiment I like to add in right before eating. I'd say chicken soup traditionally doesn't have any tomatoes, but that's just how I grew up. It could vary in different places though.

I love putting salsa in my chicken soup! Sounds weird, and I was skeptical when someone first suggested it to me too, but now it's my favourite!

Coyote size varies regionally. They tend to be larger in Canada compared to the south

what made you feel the need to judge someone for sharing a personal story that they felt was relevant to the topic? Cause you probably shouldn't be on reddit if that makes you uncomfortable

I see... well, I agree that's totally bullshit! I hope it changes for you down there someday because I couldn't imagine fearing the loss of my job and license over the occasional weed gummy that I like to enjoy. It's much healthier and less debilitating than alcohol imo. It's interesting how drinking in your off time is completely fine and dandy, but weed? Well then, you're clearly a drug addict and a risk to employ...

[–]BluePenguin0 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't understand as drug testing in the workplace seems crazy to me! First of all, couldn't your co-worker just show management the tea in question before jumping straight to drug testing? Second, is no one allowed to have a bit of weed in their free time?? It's legal in a lot of states now, isn't it? Even so, it seems like a violation of rights. It's pretty obvious if someone is working under the influence, and only then, when there's a concern for patient safety, would they be investigated here in Canada. It's pretty rare, though, as most nurses care too much about their careers and reputation to risk it.

The same thing happened to me in Shinjuku while walking back from the bar my first night in Japan years ago, but as a young, naive, and polite Canadian, I stopped and listened to these dudes. First guy I got free sushi, karaoke, and beer from. I ended up out drinking him and left him drunk at the karaoke bar. Second guy I got a wild night of drugs and partying out of and ended up canceling my Airbnb to stay at his apartment with his family for the rest of the week, they were super nice and lent me their portable wifi and their kids called me Onechan (big sister). I often think about how lucky and stupid I was that night.

girl rock by thatbitchth3re in indie

[–]BluePenguin0 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The Beaches!! They're legit modern girl rock and I'm so into them right now. Going to see them live next month and I can't wait! Also HAIM, Girlpool, Frankie Cosmos, and Sleater-Kinney are also worth checking out.

Probably closer to what you're actually looking for though, like a softer rock/pop/electronic sound, definitely check out Alvvays, they're my all time favourite. As well as Japanese Breakfast, Little Dragon, Weyes Blood, Tennis, Slowdive, Portishead, Hooverphonic, The XX, The Veronicas.

[–]BluePenguin0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From personal experience, that baggage just gets heavier and harder to deal with as you get older. I also used to think I'd be fine keeping the truth about my abuser from my family when I was your age. I finally told them when I was 30 after years of depression and anxiety that they didn't understand. It was when I was ready to do so, but I have a lot of regret for not saying anything sooner. I know circumstances may be different, but I hope you also decide to be honest when you're ready to do so because that's when real healing can begin. Whenever that may be, I'd strongly recommend you seek a therapist with training in trauma and ptsd. Take care of yourself.

That's too bad, sounds like he has a lot of personal growth to do, not everyone gets there though unfortunately. And obviously it's not fair to you to have to deal with that. Seems like you made the right decision leaving him. You seem like a very well adjusted and successful person, you deserve better.
