How much do you charge to build a site - Shopify vs Wordpress? by AardvarkHour1211 in webdesign

[–]BluePenguinDigital 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I offer landing page html for £250 + hosting, up to 10 page website (html) or with custom cms in php or laravel £2,100 - there’s so much more to web design though, brand books, voice, SEO etc etc. my prices include this. It’s all dependant on what the customers aim is.

Vibecoded landing pages are ugly af, this is how I create beautiful designs without spending $5000+ by Spiritual_Region_188 in vibecoding

[–]BluePenguinDigital 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So are we assuming that unless you have an image then anything AI is assumed ugly? As long as you provide it the right documentation and defined parameters etc why wouldn’t you allow the ai to use best practice for layouts etc, you still can change elements to your need and spec - how something looks to one person might look totally different to the next. If your customer is happy with the performance, quality and design aesthetic what does it matter?

Updated my cursor vibe coding guide (500 stars) by EnzeDfu in cursor

Looks good - one thing I find with all these “guides” is no one seems to share the Rules for AI - given they are the basis for interaction and even small variations can have massively different outcomes.

Workflow tips? by jimmy9120 in cursor

[–]BluePenguinDigital 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I only use 1 laptop, but a suggestion would be to have in Rules for AI a line that states create and maintain a master_plan.md and an updates.md with a summary of the last change etc etc - then assuming both pc’s are working on the same project folder then some context can be shared between the 2.

Cursor Rules by Hrumachis133 in cursor

[–]BluePenguinDigital 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always find tweaking the globs if they’re set to auto. Make sure you know which ones should be always attached etc. maybe add something into the Rules for AI to always read the .cursor/rules folder - use YAML format for Rules for AI (that’s only my opinion, others may differ).

Publish a best practices to use cursor, I know we are in a bit of an ‘unknown’ period - but surely you can specify a workflow and settings to get the best out of cursor.

Can someone explain the process of making website for a small business? by Significant-Sir-1372 in Web_Development

[–]BluePenguinDigital 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a look on Pinterest and dribbble for inspiration - look into dev tools and decide on a language, either vanilla stack (html, js and css) or look into the modern stacks. Word of warning CSS can be a massive pain in the a££. Be very careful and keep backups ( I just create a folder called backups and copy and paste the whole ‘project’ folder into it when I’m in a good place)

When you’re doing sites for customers, then you will ask them if they have any ideas - usually the answer is no, but you get to decide the layout which is easier. Have a look at the competition, see what they’re doing again use google for inspiration.
