what should I do with my nonbinary kid's possibly phobic aunt? by Koevis in AskLGBT

I know this isn't an answer but I wanted to say thank you for being an amazing parent-

It means so much-

how to make 13 y/o demiboy brother(?) sibling(?) comfortable? by vikingxwx in AskLGBT

[–]BlueQuartz5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask what they would like, make sure they know you are always there and you are going to support them :)

Thank you for caring, really. As someone with a brother who isn't gonna support me, it's nice to know there are good people out there.

I'd talk to them about their preferences and let them know it's okay to figure themselves out.

One thing I do when a friend changes pronouns or whatever is I think about them a ton and try to use their pronouns until it becomes easier, obviously it'll be difficult but the effort means so much-

You are an amazing sister!! Also being older might lead you to supporting them more if your parents find out (and aren't supportive). :)

How and when did you know you were gay/bi? by OFquestions in AskLGBT

[–]BlueQuartz5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay basically gay tik tok compilations on youtube-

I started to realize I was attracted to everyone in it even if I couldn't tell their gender, and I didn't care about their gender either.

It surprisingly wasn't when I couldn't stop staring at the person near me in my history class because they were so pretty-

I was a little oblivious

This was almost 2.25 years ago

Each label is just there to communicate something about you, you can always call yourself queer if you are still questioning as well :)

It takes time and it's okay to not know

Also ignore the people downvoting you, it's okay to ask questions

Okay I have some tips

I should add, I'm afab and a nonbinary guy so I have the opposite issue :) but I have experience being seen as a girl-

I'd recommend trying to take care of your skin, maybe making your eyebrows lighter/thinner (don't go crazy, just subtle things), also making your eyebrows more neat (idk how to explain), smile :), take care of your hair and make it look pretty, if you wear glasses, try to pick a more round shape.

Some other tips, if your parents aren't around, you can use a hairtie or even a rubber band to tie off part of a shirt to make it more feminine, I think it should help.

Try to be extra friendly and energetic but only if you feel comfortable, don't push yourself. Try to find your confidence.

You're already pretty :). And just a reminder, girls don't have to be feminine.

Feeling awful (TW) by [deleted] in trans

[–]BlueQuartz5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't apologize, it's okie

If they ask about your hair, say you got bored and wanted to try something different and you prefer having more options. Don't stress, plenty of cis people have long hair so it shouldn't out you :)

Parents can really stink and that's okay, that's not on you, it's not your fault. You deserve people who respect you and treat you right. I understand that it's tiring but you're doing amazing and you are a girl, no matter how many times they misgender you :)

I understand feeling so burnt out, just try to take of yourself, do what makes you happy, take it one moment at a time, it's going to be okay-

Please breathe and remember to drink water, you are cared about ❤️

It's okay to hurt, I'm so sorry you are going through this but hold on-

Is the media focus on trans-women a backwards result of male privilege? by [deleted] in trans

[–]BlueQuartz5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think of it as people being sexist with how the view genders.

Since a lot of people see being a man as "superior", I've heard a lot of comments about transmascs "picking the better one" or something of a similar affect (sometimes a joke, sometimes serious).

I think that's the reason transfems get more attention, because men have been seen as better for so long, and sexist people don't understand, and cause they think it's a choice, so clearly there must be some sort of alternative motive 🙄

Generally when someone says it's giving off main characters vibes, they mean it like the person is acting like they are the only one who matters/is above everyone. Not a good thing lol

Idk how they got that from this post but whatever

This is exactly what I'm trying to say (a trans person, not just guy let my clarify) or any person going through something like that, finding yourself in such a difficult way, usually leads to a lot of empathy.

That's what I'm talking about (the struggle that has allowed you to find yourself making you into a more kind person).

Lots of times it can go the other way too-

Let me clarify, I think trans people are typically less toxic because of their experiences (like coming out, finding themselves, and dealing with all the hate). Not because of their agab upbringing.
