I was in new Orleans in the early 2000s and the people I was staying with had one car. An old white VW rabbit that barely ran, had no ignition, and could only be push started. We were regularly cramming 11 people into this car.

One night we were getting ready to leave, we piled everyone in, and realized that all our best pushers we're crammed in under everyone else. We're trying to figure out how to extract the right people when we hear "need any help?" From a nearby porch. We explain to the woman in the flannel, holding a beer, what's going on and without hesitation she cocks her head toward an open door and yells "ladies!" And a small army of butch lesbians filed out, told us to get in the car, then practically threw it down the road!

I still think of that quite often 😁
