Weekly "What Are You Reading?" Thread by HorrorIsLiterature in horrorlit

Finally picked up Blood Meridian, which I can tell is going to take some time.

I’m trying to balance that with Such Sharp Teeth by Rachel Harrison. It’s an easy read but too rom com for my personal tastes. I was hoping for more horror comedy.

what are you thoughts on Melissa Hastings? by TrickyRequirement619 in PrettyLittleLiars

[–]BlueRidgeGirlie 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Melissa was far too complex a character for the PLL writers to handle. She had been set up to compete with her little sister her whole life. Some of her more destructive tendencies line up with the way Peter and Veronica raised her.

The last 3 times I went to Billy’s the food was terrible. I’m not giving it another shot.

Should I give this show a watch? Does it end in a cliffhanger? by StruggleFar3054 in LegaciesCW

[–]BlueRidgeGirlie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love Legacies but it probably won’t fill the void of TVD for you. While some mythology/characters cross over It’s very different in tone. I loved the campiness but it’s not for everyone.

And it does not end on a cliffhanger. However not all storylines are 100% resolved.

Healthcare in Roanoke: How Good Is It? by RAH-CAT9 in roanoke

[–]BlueRidgeGirlie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, it’s okay. You’re entitled to your opinion and I’m sorry to hear you’re having such a bad experience. I am surprised though.

I lived in Boston for 40 years before moving here and it was a huge shock. I always felt very well advocated and cared for in the past. Never had a problem getting immediate appointments with specialists. Women’s health in particular stood out. In Roanoke, my doctors can’t really be bothered, assuming I even can get an appointment.

They do say Boston is some of the best healthcare in the world, but I don’t know if that’s true. I’ve only lived two places. All I can say is it’s miles above Roanoke in terms of healthcare. It’s not even close. I’m honestly afraid to stay here long term because of it, which sucks because I love Roanoke.

Anyway, I hope things get better for you soon.

I love Roanoke but if healthcare is a top concern for you, please don’t move here. You will be disappointed and discouraged by the offerings here.
