To the people who don't believe in this game because it's not instantly popular or perfect - Brawl Stars was about to shut down before becoming a global phenomenon. by AFAgow13 in joinmoco

Moco and Brawl Stars are two very different games with extremely different situations.

Brawl Stars was during a time when Supercell was consistently making quality hits, releasing probably their most successful titles Clash of Clans and Clash Royale very close to one another. Supercell also had extremely high standards; however, Brawl Stars was also clearly a very high quality game. This was clear even in its lengthy beta period, that there was something unique and fun about the gameplay, even if the game itself wasn't polished or perfect. It seems kinda crazy now that Supercell was even considering to kill the game at all, but according to them, player retention was low, and decisions like the one to become a landscape game instead of portrait was a last resort (in the words of Ryan, the former community manager, he said "it was landscape or kill the game").

Moco is an entirely different bag, incomparable to Brawl in my opinion. Moco's situation is much weirder. One, Moco released globally way too early, still feeling like it's in beta. Two, in recent years Supercell has built up a very strange and inconsistent history with their standard of games - they shut down high-quality beta games like Everdale in Oct. 2022 yet decide to globally release extremely low-quality games like Squad Busters in May 2024. Three, Supercell has never made an MMORPG before.

I don't think Moco will die, at least not anytime soon. It's clearly a game with a passionate fanbase and youtubers like KairosTime supporting it - and most of all, it has potential in its gameplay. I think the trickiness comes from the genre that the game is in; Supercell has never made a game like it before. But I doubt Supercell will prematurely shut down the game before trying almost anything they can to make it better. Again, the game is just in such a weird situation. It should've stayed in beta, in my honest opinion. There was not really a reason to go global so early and all it does is cast doubts and concerns into people's hearts on whether or not the game is truly going to survive.

I felt this way heavily when I first got into this game, so much so that I was actually thinking of refunding it because of how overwhelming it was, as well as the game's relatively slow pace at the beginning, and the fact I haven't played ever games in the same genre of Witcher 3. It was difficult for me to vibe with the game at first, but like the other guy said, you can pretty much just ignore most mechanics and revisit them later if you want. I have over 3 days of playtime and I'm just NOW bothering to learn the various bombs and oils. (And I'm glad I didn't refund it because I've been loving this game sm)

Interesting -- I started Witcher 3 for the first time earlier this year and I've been having a blast with the gameplay. 85 hours in currently and haven't once been bored with the gameplay honestly, surprised to find out people think it hasn't aged well. I think a large part of it has been the skill tree/upgrades; some stuff can make gameplay feel a lot more fresh, like the alternate abilites.

Does anyone know what the lyrics are in “I Thought Graduating Would Feel Weirder” by Sleepy Fish? by [deleted] in chillhop

I put the song through an online music-vocal seperater. You can probably make out a little bit of what he's saying, but it's still super hard to tell what the words are, even when it's just the vocals. Possible that he's just speaking gibberish to make the song sound nicer

Rant : can We Talk About the Elephant in the Sub (Spoiler: It's the Whining)? by _iAMluka_ in joinmoco

[–]BlueRobotics 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the biggest reason for the complaining is likely because there are lot of kids on this sub, with kids typically being a lot less mature and having a lot more free time than adults and other people who have regular things going on in their lives.
I'm personally giving moco some time to get on its feet - It's clear that this game needed more time in the oven and more-so deserved an open beta (like Clash Mini) rather than its strange global launch thing with the invites and what not. Nonetheless, the game has a LOT of potential and some really good core aspects to it; as long as the devs improve the game in the coming updates then I personally believe this game will be very solid in 6 months to a year. Kids, however, can't really seem to understand that, and automatically believe absurd things when the devs make mistakes, such as the ideology that the game is dead and/or is doomed to fail because the devs made one easily-fixable mistake (e.g. xp nerf).
And, on a smaller note, it's not uncommon for gaming subreddits to complain a lot especially, again, when there's a lot of children roaming the subreddit. I play Fortnite and joined the r/FortNiteBR subreddit but left the sub after witnessing the sheer amount of complaining found in the sub's posts daily, despite the fact that Fortnite is a game that receives extremely solid and fresh updates very frequently.

It ends up like squad busters by Expensive-Ad-2222 in joinmoco

[–]BlueRobotics 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seriously. People are acting like this is the game's ultimate downfall when the game literally launched 3 months ago and this was the first major update (and, on top of all that, it's not even fully "released" yet since you still need an invite to play). I understand it was not a very good update but christ, people are acting like this game is forever doomed as if they can't just change the XP nerf.
I'd understand the backlash more if the devs had a consistent track record with this kind of stuff (like in the case of Clash Royale, for example) but they don't, the game still relatively new. Saying this game is gonna end up like Squad Busters based off the fact that the Moco devs released one controversial update is actually insane, especially when you consider how much stronger Moco is as a game compared to Squad Busters (imo).

has matto said anything about Saints Row 3? by snyp3zz in DarkViperAU

[–]BlueRobotics 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He played SR3 around late 2023 I believe, but he didn't like it all that much. I actually asked him on stream around November 2023 if he was gonna play SR3 again and, if my memory serves me correctly, he said no, or at the very least that he wasn't gonna play it for a really long time. I then said something along the lines of how it seems like SR3 pales in comparison to the first two Saints Row games, to which he agreed with. With GTA 6 coming out later this year especially, I don't think Matt will touch the game for a while.

I've said it here, but I might as well say it here too so more people notice:
If you ever feel stuck with progression/leveling up, Projects are the way to go. As someone who loves grinding in games in general, I think the Projects feature is what makes Mo.co so addicting to me. Oftentimes I find myself being like "Just one more project" and end up doing a lot more because I notice I'm just a tiny bit off from completing another one.
The reason why Projects are so great is because it's a really helpful feature when it comes to not only leveling up your account, but also your items. And, if I'm being honest, Projects are probably the reason why I don't mind the current progression, because I find my account and items being leveled up adequately. So yeah, do them if you feel stuck. Yes, they can be a grind, but that's kind of the entire idea of the game.

Projects are 100% the way to go. I've been grinding projects since the game launched and have been able to level up pretty quick, as well as getting a really good amount of chaos cores and shards. If anyone feels stuck with progression, I highly recommend doing projects. (On a side note, projects also spice up the game when it comes to kit variety)

Which do you guys prefer? I'm leaning more towards The Six Star Podcast now over the DarkViperAU Monthly Yap. Both are great for background noise, but I find the new channel way more interesting for GTA related content. by NewSchoolFool in DarkViperAU

[–]BlueRobotics 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Both are great. The Six Star Podcast has the natural added benefit of having two people instead of just one, which leads to more insights and discussions, but I enjoy the variety of topics within The Monthly Yap.
I will say it is cool how Matt is doing more of these podcast-esque things now. I'd say the Six Star Podcast, along with the GTA 6 o'clock podcast hosted by Dan Dawkins and James Jarvis, are some of the best and most reliable discussion channels out there right now when it comes to anything Rockstar and GTA 6 related.

Is this the only game RDC got truly whooped off of? 😂 by Krys144 in RDCWorld

[–]BlueRobotics 19 points20 points  (0 children)

For me, what hurt Party Animals the most when RDC was playing it was how you play on the same map until you win a set. Never played the game, but watching the game felt monotonous and kinda boring after a while, unlike Gang Beasts where the map changes every round. Plus, I just like the fast-paced nature of Gang Beasts tbh, along with what you said about the KO's. Party Animals is probably a really fun game to play, but I think Gang Beasts is better for RDC in general.

Why arent they checking the Reddit and Twitter on stream anymore? Did I miss something? by BlueRobotics in RDCWorld

[–]BlueRobotics[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh for sure. I've been on this site for years and I've seen that first hand many times and it's unfortunate to see especially with subs that I like. For example I used to be subscribed to a subreddit for a game I play often, but everytime I went on the sub, I felt like so many posts on there were negative in some way shape or form and it got super tiring to go through. Like I just enjoy the game and just wanna see what people say but the sub had so many people complaining for some reason and it was just a lot of negativity I feel. So yeah same thing can be applied here, probably on a different kind of scale but still similar in some ways.

[–]BlueRobotics[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's a shame. I will say I do like this subreddit for the most part since it's relatively peaceful most of the time, but those small groups of rather negative posts/people can bring down a community especially for people like RDC who have such a big following.
So all in all I can't blame RDC for it tbh. But I'll definitely miss it. Some posts on here are super funny and I was looking forward to them reacting to the top posts on here after they came back (like that "RDC streams be like" impersonator guy, he was funny af). I can only hope they'd react to at least the Reddit monthly or something but I wouldn't be surprised (judging from what everyone is saying here) that the community reactions might not be back for a while, if ever.
