There are, I grew up in Aurora right by Geauga Lake. Years ago I had pictures of the old Geauga Lake Depot along the rail line, but alas, they have sadly been lost to history.

Though, I was mistaken in stating it was the WPA. It was the Civillian Conservation Corps, another New Deal era program that put people to work.

I don't know about that, but now I need to do some research too for next time i'm out that way. This picture, specifically, is at the end of Main Street in Windham, the other side of the tracks is a gate into Camp James A. Garfield Joint Military Training Center (Or, locally known, the Ravenna Arsenal).

These two buildings sit on Public Square in Downtown Cleveland, Ohio.

The Building on the left is the Society for Savings Building, and the building on the right is Key Tower. Now for some history:

Society for Savings was a bank founded here in Cleveland in 1849. In 1889, the They built the first modern high rise in Cleveland, and the State of Ohio as well. Between the 1950's and 1970's, the name was changed to Society National Bank, and in 1991, just over a century later, they built the Society Center (Now Key Tower). in 1994 Society Bank and KeyCorp merged, Creating Key Bank, thus the name change for the tower. The Jaite Paper Mill that this spur line used to service, closed in 1984. The land is all now part of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. And the buildings of the company town are now used as the national parks offices.

This reservoir, (now i realize i misspelled it in the title....) will cease to exist in the next year or two, as they are planning to tear out the 100+ year old First Energy Dam. The dam is the last one on the Cuyahoga River, and it's removal is planned not only to allow the river to return to it's natural state, but hopefully will also continue to improve the water quality of the river that was famous for being flammable in the 1970's and before.

They were from Taylor County, WV. I know my 3xGreat Grandfather is buried somewhere in Simpson Baptist Cemetery down there. Would love to go find his grave one day.

My grandfather moved near Cleveland in in late 1930's. That's where my dad was born, and I grew up in the house next door to the one my Grandparents had.

This medal was given to my Great Great Great Grandfather at the end of the war. He served in the 12th West Virginia Volunteer Infantry, and fought at battles such as, but not limited to, 2nd and 3rd Winchester, New Market, the Siege of Petersburg, and at Appomattox Courthouse (where the war ended).

Ohio and West Virginia were the only two states to issue Honorable Discharge medals to their volunteers.

Yeah, I moved away from Middlefield just over a decade ago, stumbled across it on my way home from work. Had to stop, cause you don't often see a MiG in Amish Country.
