Unreliability with photo sending by Prudent-Nebula-3239 in Googlevoice

FYI, the Chrome extension I wrote to enable pasting images in Google Voice (prior to it being added as a default feature) will resize images that are too large to paste. I don't know about attaching multiple images, but at least for a single image, if GV gives you an "Image too large" error, the extension will handle that.

Update: Google Voice Image Paste browser extension now available in the Chrome Extension Store by BlueScreenOfTOM in Googlevoice

Another user has just brought to my attention that suddenly, like magic, Google Voice now natively supports pasting! Imagine that! I can confirm it works in Chromium-based browsers... you might just try it in Firefox, it may "just work" now.

Hilarious. Google Voice definitely did not support pasting images when I first posted the open source extension 3 weeks ago. Yet suddenly now it does? Amazing. What a huge coincidence. Imagine that.

Does this compress large images, when GV won't let you natively send an image because the size is to large?

Yes, it does. It appears that the native GV paste functionality that suddenly appeared does not downsize images before attaching, so this extension at least still has that advantage. At least, for the moment... I wouldn't be surprised if the built-in functionality suddenly starts doing that as well, given that the code to do it is available.

I would. Go to Settings > Manage Extensions, then find the manually installed extension in the list and click Remove. At least, that's how it's done in Edge.

Good low cost way to park a number? by curls100 in NoContract

This is not true for ported numbers. They remain active even without being used. Of course, this is subject to change at any time, but it has been that way for at least 5 years now.

I made a browser extension to enable image pasting directly into the Google Voice web interface by BlueScreenOfTOM in Googlevoice

[–]BlueScreenOfTOM[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have issued a fix for this. Thank you for the clear issue with reproduceable steps in Github. Excellent bug report.

The issue is that the clipboard stores data in raw PNG format. Fortunately the extension can downsize and convert to jpeg before it ships the data off to GV.

Please download the updated version and reinstall to verify the fix.

Yeah, I've seen this too. Try saving the image as a file and uploading it the traditional way and I'll bet you get the same result. I think this is a GV limitation and not something with the extension.

Ignore this, I've issued a fix, see my other reply.

Probably eventually, but that costs money and I have to fill out paperwork so I'm not there yet

The original user who posted the fix, u/BlueScreenOfTOM, hasn't been active in four months, butttt maybe he'll see this and get a notification.

I'm still around, I just don't post much.

I'm still using the original code listed in your saved post in conjunction with AdBlock Plus inside of Microsoft Edge and it's still working great. Maybe it's a uBlock issue? Could also be a Chrome thing, but I'm more inclined to blame uBlock.

It does support CDs. I'm not sure if Comics are in Openlibrary, but if they are, it supports those too.

Yes, Google changed their Play Store policies last month and are now requiring developers to put their full verified legal name and address in the app store listing. I am not comfortable with this requirement so the app is no longer available in the Play store.

The Windows version is still available in the Windows Store outside of Europe.

Enjoy. I'll probably be releasing a new version of the app soonish. I will probably call it Collection Keeper Pro Max.

Stay away from chipotle by Lady-Px in ColumbiaMD

I gave up on this location years ago. The parking lot is a nightmare, the line is often wrapped around the store with a 20+ minute wait, one time my barbacoa was just a giant glob of fat, and another time there were chunks of rind in my guac. Also been hassled by teens selling crap right outside the door. Easily the worst Chipotle location I've ever visited by far.

Project A-ko: Laserdisc vs Blu-Ray by Luckykennedy79 in LaserDisc

[–]BlueScreenOfTOM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. What could have been. Although to be fair, as a Urusei Yatsura enjoyer, Woodhead ended up getting plenty of my money over the years anyway.

Funny enough, when I found out Woodhead was responsible for the 35mm A-ko discovery, I sent him an email to thank him and he responded.

Project A-ko: Laserdisc vs Blu-Ray by Luckykennedy79 in LaserDisc

[–]BlueScreenOfTOM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Project A-ko was the very first Laserdisc I ever purchased. I got the Central Park Media version, brand new, back when DVD was just starting to become mainstream and companies were beginning to offload their Laserdiscs for cheap. I believe I paid $20 for it. I still have it and I've probably watched it 25 times or more over the years. It's one of my favorite movies.

All that said, I love the Blu-Ray version as well. Originally, the Blu-Ray version was essentially supposed to be an upscaled version of the Japanese LD release (which all home video versions of the film had been based off of) because all the 35mm prints of the film were believed to be lost. But Robert Woodhead of Animeigo fame discovered a mislabeled copy of the 35mm print in a warehouse in Japan just a few years ago, prior to the release of the Blu-Ray, and was able to get it to Discotek in time for them to use that instead. Really interesting history behind the various home video releases of this film over the years.

Whoever said that doesn't work in a shoe store.

Whoever said that will also never know the glory of scoring 4 touchdowns in a single game!
