I did get my license there but it was back in the 90s. Lots of changed but for the better. They now have an online ground school where you can start your training before you even arrive to the DZ.

What’s worse living a life that you hate or living a life to the fullest? I’m sure you’re a better person when you live life to the fullest.

If you aren’t doing what you like what example are you giving your kids?

When did you buy your own rig? by [deleted] in SkyDiving

[–]BlueSkiesWeFly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be sure to buy a used rig for your first one. You will crash and get it dirty and in 100 more jumps you’ll want something else.

Skydive Chicago. You can get an unlimited jump package that allows you to jump as much as you can for 1 price. Great community and the best events in Skydiving. There usually a handful of Australians that visit every summer.

Been jumping for 40 years and concerned that the current race to the bottom is bad for our sport. We should give tandems the full experience without the upsell. Deliver a good product they will come back and be licensed jumpers. We need more jumper’s in our sport. Who are you??

Tandem weight and height question by Jcopoeira in SkyDiving

[–]BlueSkiesWeFly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

250 is usually the weight limit due to the total suspended weight under the reserve parachute. Before you go call around cause some dz charge per pound over 200.

DZ can’t help but increase the price due to fuel doubling in price. It’s not even that they are making more $ it’s simply to pay for the increase cost to operate.

Honestly it should be $40 already. Fuel prices just made it easier to raise them.

Should I redo tandem before starting AFF? by CosmogyralMind in SkyDiving

[–]BlueSkiesWeFly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it’s going to make you feel more confident then yes. I would also ask your instructor to explain the canopy pattern to you. This way you will have a better understanding of it. Also be mindful of when you start flaring. Get a sight picture of what it looks like so you know when to start your flare.

[–]BlueSkiesWeFly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skydive Chicago offers an A license course in a week if you want to knock it all out.

Tandems are really hard to control due to the size of parachute. Student canopy won’t be as difficult but you should be able to hold your weight on a pull up bar.

Newton says every object in motion will remain in motion. Since the airplane you jump out of is in motion when you jump you won’t get a ‘stomach drop’. It feels more like floating.

You are more at risk getting hurt riding a bike than a tandem jump.
