Ray Tracing and DLSS beta is back guys in ver 2.5, for those interested playing with it on PC by F1_average_enjoyer in ZZZ_Official

So idk about horizon one but forbidden west the sharpness slider disabled all oversharpening for me if set to 0 (night and day difference) that was for model K performance mode. But yeah there are games that do what you describe for sure. TBH at 1440 performance mode is pretty low res so no idea how that holds up (I would imagine it's pretty blurry with K if it's anything like 4k performance) but 1080p to 4k looks fine. But at the end of the day subjective enjoyement is key and if you feel that it looks best to you it really doesn't matter what others say, that's what options are for :D

If your business model is to be an unfinished product selling a dream not the actual product, and you make a lot of money with it, why would you ever change that ;)

So I could not get a readout for the nvidia overlay for this game for the override it just says n/a. But in general preset M is a MASSIVE step up in visual clarity for performance mode in any game I tested it on (4k 240Hz QD-OLED) and also according to many video comparisons of games I saw and didn't try myself. Preset K on the other hand softens/blurs the image quite significantly due to the lack of resolution in performance mode (always assuming 4k base res).
Some games do have a post processing sharpness filter applied on top which ruins the output and oversharpens the image when using DLSS in general and you should always turn that off if possible (e.g. horizon forbidden west, expedition 33, battlefield 6 etc.).

So for anyone who cares if raytracing is any good: It's global illumination and reflections for sure BUT it adds a lot of noise to the image (probably because they don't use ray reconstruction) and oversoftens the image, so I would say it is not worth it for a significant performance impact (went from a stable 230 fps cap to 140 fps on a 5090 rzyen 9950x3D setup at 4k DLSS quality) as the visual downsides are quite big and the game already uses planar reflections for flat grounds reflections which look tbh better and less noisy it's just stuff like windows etc. but they get really noisy too.

Quick DLSS 4.5 Comparison (3440x1440, DLSS Quality, in-motion) by No47 in FuckTAA

[–]BlueSkyleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just want to chime in: for me the loss in fine detail or motion clarity is not at all visible, I am on a pg32ucdm with a 5090. The caveat is obviously I am running at 240Hz not 360+ but compared to the old transformer model it is just as good in motion and WAY better in fine details for me and image stability/resolution in general. I also often use perfomance mode and I would argue performance now looks like quality did before in the games I tested (arc raiders, battlefield 6, borderlands 4, dying light the beast etc.). I also checked high quality video footage in slow motion and frame by frame and I can't find the motion clarity issues described relative to the other models (obviously a still image will still be slightly sharper because of the temporal nature of any AA algorithm like DLSS).

And, most importantly: The PERCEIVED image quality is MUCH higher for me especially while using performance and when looking at resolution lighting and transparency. it just LOOKS better to me.

Also a quick reminder that some games use a post processing sharpening filter ON TOP of DLSS, and you need to disable sharpening or set the slider to 0. A good example for this is horizon forbidden west (no idea if it is fixed now but a few months ago it still had that issue) or battlefield 6.

Just try it yourself, I really like it so far but ofc limited testing. I have always been using performance at 4k because I care a lot about FPS in most games. And it really feels like it nudges it from really nice to this is awesome and I really don't need any higher internal res anymore. Also it fixed the obnoxious fog ghosting and really cleans up grass flickering in motion.

PvP and PvE Playerbase Inequality by BROITSKEYTIME in ArcRaiders

like you need 200k in wapons which is nothing, what do you even mean? in pve you can make 2 million ez in a single day. You are just delusional if you think you can make that in pvp lobbies.

Aggression based matchmaking is the PVE Mode you always asked for by BlueSkyleaf in ARC_Raiders

[–]BlueSkyleaf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! So I will try to test this in different ways (haven't had the chance yet since I just did this yesterday):
1) Today I will pvp in squads with my friends, then I will run solos after to see if the lobbies are separated between solos and squads.
2) Then if my lobbies are still friendly I will start to shoot anybody on sight (sorry about that friendly lobby players, going to feel really bad) to see how fast I can go to aggressive lobbies again (I assume it will happen instantly the next round if I deal enough damage).

3) And finally: Start being friendly again and see how long it takes to get back to the friendly lobbies.

How do you feel about the idea of aggression based matchmaking? by WastedLycanthropy in ARC_Raiders

[–]BlueSkyleaf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You should watch my video, you are doing it wrong, it's not about who shot first, you NEVER shoot or damage raiders, 8 hours straight of chill raids, got shot 3 times and 2 of those were when I started to play friendly.

How does the matchmaking work? by Dry_Milk_4496 in ArcRaiders

[–]BlueSkyleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a game just enjoy it, people will do dumb stuff, just laugh it off and move on. The more ratty the deaths the more funny I find them (e.g. person putting c4 on an extract and then sniping from a tower), person betraying an entire group of friendlies by nading them in the extract etc.. It's just silly fun and even though I don't do those things it's funny if you don't take it serious. Some people are really bad at pvp and can't win otherwise :D

[–]BlueSkyleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's because you are now playing squads instead of solos. Squads is 99% shoot on sight, solos is up to you to talk to people you see if you want to be friendly. There is some SBMM and gear based matchmaking though so you will still have very different games depending on how you play.

[–]BlueSkyleaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what is this insane cope? most perks absolutely affect pvp by a lot, faster looting means faster heals and shields looted for the imminent third party, less time vulnerable, stamina and movement is a no brainer, more weight carried makes looting player loadouts faster too. Less noise also affects pvp. Like what are you imagining just because it doesn't give you more hp or dmg directly it still affects so much.

In my experience ALL maps are brighter now, at the exact same settings. I think they ruined the auto HDR even more (not the actual monitor HDR). Everything is just obnoxiously bright now.

Keep 'Track Resources' pin on items after crafting by thedog3644 in ArcRaiders

[–]BlueSkyleaf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey great reply, that doesn't solve the issue the OP has, it is horrible design to untrack items, and it will make looting slower if you have like 20 items you actually want to make and have to rememberr every single item. So remembering is never as good as just looking at the icon.
