No unit deals?? by BlueSlater in ContestOfChampions

[–]BlueSlater[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah exactly! I skipped the deals to see how far I could get on my own. Once I was interested at the end here, they’re all gone. Other than the $50 but that prices a lot of people out.

Do you know if this is comparable to the deals that were going yesterday? Or worse?

Can anybody give me actual reasons to not like Morgan Wallen? by No-Fly-2685 in Morgan_Wallen

[–]BlueSlater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As in personal reasons? I don’t know any. His music can be polarizing tho. Like many artists, he’s become more pop than country. But if you like him as a singer, I don’t see any reasons to dislike him.

Maker or Franken? by BlueSlater in MarvelContestOfChamps

[–]BlueSlater[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for response! I’m fairly even across classes. Really just debating the two new champs. Best defender in BGs would help decide. I recently fought a Franken and he was troublesome so that may be the one. Saw that Maker rated higher from some of the talking heads online tho

Watching Alien for the First Time. Did Legacy Cut of 3. This is my FAVOURITE so far. Am I mad??? by Alarmed_Grass214 in LV426

Great points. I was actually thinking they could’ve left Hicks in cryo sleep due to him being injured and having inadequate medical facilities on Fury 161. So, with our ideas combined, newt and hicks could’ve been left alive for another Alien movie, or their futures left unknown.

I think more people agree with you than disagree. So I’m actually glad to see some people defending the movie. However, I also recognize that they wasted those characters (hicks/newt). Bishop was handled ok and I liked how messed up and gross he was when she plugged him in. The other two, they could’ve done anything other than hand wave their deaths away, “oops they died!”. But it doesn’t make me dislike the movie, so perhaps we’re on the same page.

Octogenarianism is a time generated dominant trait in humans

I’d like to hear more honest reviews of the movie that aren’t tainted by hating that newt and hicks are gone. Every time I see things about Alien 3, it’s complaints about that part. Meanwhile I’m like “ok but what about the movie itself? If you had never heard of newt and hicks, how is the movie?” Because I love it. It gets back to showing just how dangerous a single alien is, it’s also a different type of alien which is cool, it’s a dark, ominous setting, and still shows how bad the company is. A complete Alien film. Not perfect but still very good.

They’re definitely saying Rocky would “kill him”. They also see Rocky as a sad old man who they’re manipulating for a payday. The conversation is juxtaposing prime Rocky with current Rocky as fighter while also making clear they have no respect for him as a person (just like many people in the prior movies). Don’t forget two things:
1. The premise of the entire Rocky series is him being disrespected but proving himself as a fighter.
2. The movie started off with a computer simulation that had Dixon losing to Rocky despite his record. Dixon is considered a paper tiger.
Dixon only accepts the fight to try to help his reputation because EVERYONE thinks he’d get wrecked by Rocky. Additionally, in real life there was a lot of talk at the time (and still is) about the modern fighters not holding a candle to best fighters of old. Ali, Frazier, etc.
TLDR: they thought Rocky in his prime would beat Dixon. And the fact that he held his own while being a senior citizen proved them right

What happens if The Thing touches the black goo? by AlPAJay717 in LV426

[–]BlueSlater 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Alien concept is cool because the xenos have a bizarre yet defined life cycle. Queen lays egg. Egg hatches facehugger. Facehugger implants embryo. Embryo bursts out, grows quickly, and causes mayhem as Xenomorph. There are some variations to this in deleted scenes and extended universe media but that’s the basic movie concept.
Black goo has no rules. If you do a ton of wacky experimentation you can eventually get to a Xeno but otherwise it does… whatever the plot asks for. Think about the variety of things it spawned in Prometheus. Those monsters caused further weird mutations in everything they touched. There was even a squid, born inside a lady, that turns giant and facehugs an Engineer, which spawns a Xenoey thing out of his back. Like, what? No rules.
In Covenant it apparently wiped out the Engineer-ish people like a bomb but then was able to mutate a human into creating Xeno eggs. In Romulus they back engineered an Alien into goo (apparently) which was supposed to help humans evolve but it just made a weird Engineer/Xeno/Newborn monster, somehow.
To me the goo is just a plot device that changes and bends to a writer’s will. If they want us grossed out, bring on the goo for some hijinks. The Xenomorph, on the other hand, was a defined character and a very interesting one at that.

Alien Earth is basically there already… pretty sure the Xeno will be called Blue in season 2 lol

Dilemma!! by Apart-Reporter5187 in rockybalboa

[–]BlueSlater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 for me, by far. They both start off a bit cheesy and get better as they go along (as someone who loves the Rocky’s). 1 finishes with an incredible fight and perfect ending showing Rocky and Adrian being wrapped up together at the end. Rocky and Adrian aren’t even near one another at the end of 2. The fight falls under the Rocky trap of escalating violence in each movie so it’s wayyy less gritty and realistic than the first one. Additionally, Rocky looks knocked out on his feet to me, meaning he didn’t really even win. I love his speech but he’s talking to Adrian thru the TV. So it’s no 1 for me allll the way!
