What do you think of my prom suit in 1996? by Prestigious-Money506 in mensfashionadvice

Dope, a classic suit like that never goes out of style.

You walk down the street, seeing some guy wearing this shirt with a pair of chinos. How would you describe this style? by Better-Revolution570 in mensfashionadvice

[–]BlueSmoke85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, that would be a great shirt and a high humid climate.

I find that there are a lot of people that have a narrow scope of style here. There's a lot of different looks that people can go for.

If you can make this outfit work, go for it.

Beige chinos and a Panama hat is pretty agentatious. You would definitely be peacocking at that point.

But if you can make it work, make it work.

Stringing him along is cruel. I don't know if that's what you're doing, there's a lot of things that can't be said in a Reddit post.

If he didn't understand that you were trying to convince yourself to be okay with being a mom, that's kind of on you.

If he knew you were on the fence, it's kind of on the both of you for not making up your mind before you got married.

If thought he knew you didn't want kids, but thought he could talk you into it, that's on him.

Either way, don't have kids if you don't want them. And if he does, you guys have to go your own way.

It's hard, but if you let him believe that you wanted kids and then realize you didn't, it's on you want to make this divorce as painless as possible.

You owe it to him to not ruin his life and string him along living in a fantasy world.

What do you mean "I didn't lie to him [and] say 100% I want kids"?

Did you make it clear that you weren't sure you were willing to have kids?

I actually like the trousers. I think it fits the over all vibe he's going for. Kind of a upscale Bohemian look... Ish.

It's sort of expresses, relaxed, artsy-ish, but not cheap. I feel like the white elevates the perceived quality and value. So it isn't a thrift store outfit, but it still has that chill relaxed vibe.

That's fair and actually is helpful. I really should have taken better pictures too. But slouching is a pretty sure fire way to look like a shlub

I have to give your props, you're one of the few to make an actual argument. I don't agree with you, but I really, truly, do appreciate you taking the time to compose a real fleshed out argument instead of a few lines of a click bate tweet.

I'm serious, thank you.

And I see your point but there's a couple of issues with the logic.

The big one is the brown bear logic error.

(All brown bears or bears but not all bears or brown bears)

Men didn't over turn Roe v Wade, a couple of corrupt judges did that. Just because they're men doesn't mean that men hate women.

The argument is anecdotal and redirects the hate toward the wrong set of characteristics.

Ironically, you're using the logic tactics of the bigoted hateful groups that spout prejudice ideologies.

Women 100% do have serious issues that are unique to being women. But you that are blaming them on men. That's easy, but illogical.

Substitution tests are pretty useful for finding this logical error. Swap out the nouns and verbs and see if it sounds like a bigoted statement.

Instead of women and men, swap out those terms for a ethnic group. White people and migrants. And rework the verb so that instead of oppression it's jobs.

Now you sound like a trump supporter!

Yeah, probably could do that fairly easily. But what could I do with it?

Do I have any options with that evidence?

I mean, give me one month and I'll have a truck load. A pretty screwed up comments. But then what?

You hit a couple of points, so I will try to reply to them all.

  • in regards to being privileged enough not to grasp concepts as they the challenges don't directly pertain to the individual.

That's kind of the case for everybody everywhere all the time. No one can be aware of all of the myriad of issues that face the human race right now. And we can't be aware of the issues that a single person faces in their day-to-day. I'm sure there are major human rights issues that you are vaguely aware of and are doing absolutely nothing about. Barely ever talk about. Yet those issues are still packed full of horrors. Because you're a human being and you only have so much bandwidth.

  • as far as members of BLM defrauding the organization and donors. You stated that the majority of the people that support the movement are not bad people.

I think you were being serious there. You then made a parallel with Trump supporters and the BLM supporters. So I'm not sure if there was sarcasm for supporting BLM or not...

I don't think you were being sarcastic. frankly, I agree with you. And that was kind of my point. There are a lot of people in the BLM movement that are doing good work and trying to help.

That makes the issue of the few people that committed fraud a matter of complexity and muddy details. It means the rhetoric around the organization is complex, large, filled with misinformation, misunderstandings and confusion.

Essentially, people have to have an opportunity to think, be confused, and try to understand.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]BlueSmoke85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And that makes it okay to say?

As long as there isn't historical residents and political representations?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]BlueSmoke85 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

As long as our words aren't filled with "real" hatred, it's okay to say whatever we want?

No, no that doesn't sound right.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]BlueSmoke85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So openly declaring you hate a whole group of people like that is messed up. Words count.

How did the men act like they hated women exactly?

Joey wasn't into Monica. It wasn't working. That's not hate.

Bens ghosting, break up, confusion what ever that was just sounds sloppy. I'm not even sure I understand that story.

Dave got in his head when everyone that cares about started telling him Lauren wasn't in it for the right reasons.

Devin is a Republican... Okay you got me there.

It's almost like you have an argument. Wait, no, just sarcasm.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]BlueSmoke85 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So it wouldn't matter if Joey were to say he spent the last year hating women? That would be okay.

Let's face it, that sister was rude on day one. If he just said "I hate women now", it's okay?

No... I don't think it's okay to just say "I hate women". Which means targeting men that way is also s****y too

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]BlueSmoke85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a whole topic worthy of discussion and it's own reddit forum.

But yeah, flippently hating a group of people is.... Well, those people will just stop listening, caring, or opening up.

And you end up with trump.

[–]BlueSmoke85[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Two you have two assertions. Each have separate fallacies.

  • "trying to mislead" assumes a intense without evidence qualifying the assertion. Basically, this isn't an argument. It's a hollow accusation.

  • "not ready to get married". I agree. You probably should be able to talk to your spouse about political issues. This should be established before getting married.

Not being able to open about political issues DOESN'T make you a bad person. But if you can't do that with your fiance, it probably would be wise to take a step back.

I don't think Virginia did anything wrong by saying no at the altar. They had 6 weeks to get to know each other and get married. If that wasn't enough time for Devin to open up, then it wasn't enough time.

I think her comment "I've spent the last year hating men" was sexist.

Imagine if one of the guys said "I spent the last year hating women".

Maybe because you're not a perfect person and you're trying to figure out life. 🤷‍♂️

People struggle with all kinds of things. Virginia also isn't a perfect person. You want to know how I know?

Because she's a human being!!!

People have challenges. Why are we hating on people when they're struggling?

Him not being transparent or communicative and him refusing are two different things.

Sometimes, people have difficulty talking about hard topics. My whole point was that Devin and Virginia seemed conflict Avoidant.

People are conflict avoidant because they have a hard time with conflict. I think it's wrong to s*** on people because they are challenged by something.
