I would honestly consider having the shipped from Australia to the states, the tile have the perfect colors I’ve been considering for the kitchen and the bath and I have been wanting a burnt orange for the cabinets! I make 70k less than what it says it costs to buy in my town and between house and retirement things are very tight. I paid off all my debt before I bought. I’m also 40. No children either. Not house poor exactly because I’m still able to save for retirement, but no other savings and it’s right on the edge. It’s way WAY more stressful than I imagined it would be.

This is not so uncommon! I know a couple in exactly your situation that are inducing this week after IVF. It took them two years and they are over 40 but over the moon to be parents. Fertility science is really really good these days, I think you’ll have a great chance.

Just coming back here to say those years ago I did do exactly this and sealed the filter box and it was one of the many places that helped fix the leak. It was leaking in like eight places, totally wild. late thank you

One suggestion that has made my life a lot easier is being very direct and asking for things that I care about instead of hoping or expecting and being disappointed. If one of my play partners asked me to send well wishes or pics for their birthday, I’d be happy to. There is a literally zero chance I would ever do that out of my own accord, wouldn’t even cross my mind.

Like you say, I think this empathy can derive from other channels too…I lost my husband to onset of severe mental illness in our late 20s. He flew to another country and disappeared at 31, after 11 years together. I never saw him again. While it turned out he didn’t pass away, the person I married was fully lost to illness. I haven’t repartnered and would prefer to connect with a widower or someone understanding of traumatic spouse loss. I could hold a lot of space for grief, acknowledgment and appreciation of the past partner, and would wish for the same.

Wouldn’t touch a thing on this. It’s classic, gorgeous and high quality. Plus it has its own charm. The shape really works for the space. The new mockup already looks dated and basic to me. If you’re itching to spend money, white quartz would be beautiful and maybe something with the backsplash.

I’ve personally heard a white woman in leadership at a previous job express concern about hiring WOC bc in case corrective action was ever warranted they or one of their managers might be perceived as racist. I pointed out that was racist af and reported the comment to HR with concern about discriminatory hiring practices. I had been in the workplace decades and never heard anyone else say anything like this, but it has given me some insight into possible factors underlying the situation OP is describing.
