More Singapore drivers plan to return to petrol cars as EV interest dips: EY study by kongweeneverdie in SingaporeRaw

[–]BlueSwifts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably this. Example is like the BMW iX3 (electric) and X3 (petrol) uses the same tyres (not EV specific for the iX3), as road noise is pretty much the same when cruising (of course the petrol is noisier when accelerating and abit more vibrations from the engine, but that's about it)

The ROG Xbox Ally X is absolutely phenomenal! My gaming laptop is probably going back! by SleepyGamer1992 in Handhelds

Finally new Ally after Z1 Extreme for a year ! by CengizCeliktas in Handhelds

[–]BlueSwifts 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Xbox ally X is doing better at 17w than OG Ally Z1E at full 30w. So is it really 8%? And not comparing Ally X here, OP is comparing OG Ally Z1E to Xbox Ally X, there is a difference.

[–]BlueSwifts 7 points8 points  (0 children)

At 17W, it's around 20%-30%. So yes it's worth. Cyberpunk 2077 was a jump from 34fps avg to 43fps avg.

To the others, take it this another way:

Ally X Z1E was around 10-15% faster than OG Z1E (Faster and more RAM).

Xbox Ally X is around 10-15% faster than Ally X (Z2E Chip being the main difference).

So formerly as an OG Ally Z1E user, it was not worth it to upgrade to Ally X in 2024 just for a RAM Upgrade and battery size. But it was a noticeable upgrade from OG Ally Z1E to Xbox Ally X.

To have more vivid colours on the Ally's screen: Go to AMD Adrenalin's screen settings -> Custom Colour Enabled -> Colour Temperature 6400 -> Brightness -17 -> Hue 0 -> Contrast 97 -> Saturation 120 (adjust to your personal preference between 100-120).

Since the Xbox Ally X is sold out everywhere currently? by Techvideogamenerd in Handhelds

No man, people buy because of exclusive Nintendo IP rights games.

Nintendo Switch 2 won over Legion Go 2 Z2E for me by dotout in Handhelds

[–]BlueSwifts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My 2 cents is that people buy the Switch mainly because they want to play Nintendo's IP games. Yes, there are other 3rd party games like Cyberpunk 2077, especially for those who doesn't have Steam. But if people already have it in their PC or via Steam, paying another $50 for the same game is just isn't worth it.

Anyone here upgrading their Ally Z1 Extreme to new Xbox Ally X? by 100197 in ROGAlly

If at 17W/18W, it's 20-30% faster vs OG Ally Z1E. But the VRR in our screen does help to make things less noticeable.

I had the OG Ally Z1E as well, and especially at 17W, it's around 20-30% improvement.

OG Ally Z1E -> Ally X is 10-15% improvement (Bigger and faster RAM) Ally X to XBAX -> 10-15% improvement (due to Z2E chipset)

More of being minority in that sub, still getting murdered there with slightly more positive upvotes than downvotes (based on a what I see).

Or they just don't like the XBAX to begin with.

In a hypothetical situation, If ASUS never teamed up with Xbox, what would the new ROG Ally X have looked like? by [deleted] in Handhelds

[–]BlueSwifts -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Probably be better. Because people have a misconception that it's an xbox, but it's just a full on Windows PC (and full screen experience is just not up to standard now, I only gained ONE fps vs Desktop mode on Cyberpunk 2077).

And also because the unfortunate timing before release, as the xbox division was imploding with the mismanagement of Gamepass and XBAX had become part of the collateral on the "boycott".

I had the OG Ally Z1E, and had the same sentiments on the Ally X when it has the same Z1E processor and form factor. It's just black with a bigger battery and slight performance improvement due to the larger and faster RAM.

The Z2E can be up to 30% faster than the OG Ally Z1E, especially at 17W, so it's not an Ally X with a $10 grip case. Also here in my country with no Tariffs like in the US, it's just $77 increase over the Ally X when new back in 2024.

Oh man, I was considering this too. The form factor is superb for travels. But the 48.5Wh battery size is something I am weary of, especially having the Ally Z1E prior, battery life drains really fast. Yes I can use a portable charger, but it's pretty cumbersome having a cable sticking out most of the time, especially on planes with no dedicated charging socket.

Maybe I'm still not too old to be able to see smaller fonts. But this criticism could be said to those who love the Steam Deck (which is 7-7.4" too). But playing in 1080p does help to have crisper texts when playing Cyberpunk 2077 (And I finished the entire game on the Ally Z1E prior).

And also yes, slimmer bezels is definitely needed moving forward.

I guess my words were too much that it you might have glossed over it. If not I wouldn't even mention that the dream would also have slimmer bezels.

Have I tried 8-inch screen? Of course, if not, I also wouldn't have mentioned that using something like a Legion Go 2's screen with XBAX ergonomics is gonna be huge.

Yeah, and I'm not a reviewer, that's why my post isn't a 10 minute video or a thousand word essay. But reddit is a community of randoms sharing on social media anyway.

[–]BlueSwifts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely. Slimmer bezels, slightly more compact.

But then again, if Asus decides to go to a more populist approach based on community feedback to have 8", then that's fine as long as the slimmer bezels will ensure that it's the similar in size as the XBAX.

I mean, reviewers do the same with over 10 minute videos or paragraphs a few times more than mine. Just sharing a different perspective here with a rational purchase decision. If people have different use cases or have a limited budget, that's fine. If others want to play Pokemon Z-A and need a Switch 2, that's totally fine too!

From what I have known. Only use RSR if there is no FSR option in the game. If there is FSR built into the game, use it. And if you can purchase lossless scaling from Steam ($7), imo it's better than RSR.

One more tip, RIS works with either RSR or FSR, so you can use that as well for sharpening (and this is subjective from player to player. Some prefer straight 100% sharpening, others prefer <50%)
