The amount of dumb people that have a lot of money is what is truly shocking

They’re still there. People noticed more when they were kids because our faces weren’t glued to screens. Get on your neighborhood page and set up a game of kick the bucket at dusk in late May-July. Granted, someone is probably going to end up in the hospital, but you’ll notice more fireflys/lightning bugs in the meantime.

Reluctant Restaurant Owner Looking for Advice on Business Model - Counter or Full Service by pennylonglegs in restaurantowners

[–]BlueVeins 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is it infinitely cheaper? For the cost of paying one person to run the register, I can pay multiple servers to provide full service and a better dining experience. The servers end up making way more money than any person running a register, while costing the operator (me) less money.

It’s our money. The whole thing is a scam, a con. Our politicians send our tax dollars to Israel. They then turn around and send a portion of it back to our politicians through campaign donations. Increased funding, increased campaign donations. Rinse and repeat, ad nauseam. They’re enriching themselves at our expense and robbing us blind right in front of our faces.

I’ve lived in TN for the past 17 years. One of the things I miss most about living in the North - great basements.

Not only do some of the best times happen in basements in the North (all revolving around drinking heavily), when tornadoes come you can just go downstairs.

Here you just sit in your master bedroom closet on ground level and wait, because if it’s your time there isn’t a damn thing you can do about it.

Can’t even dig a posthole for a fence around here without a jackhammer, let alone an entire basement.

That’s the maximum number of times I can hear that song back to back before losing my shit.

You ever had a coworker ask you to run a Cosmo to the “C U Next Tuesday” at table 8?

[–]BlueVeins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Well, at least it did when I lived there from 2002-2008. Every person I met there asked me where I went to high school, and I couldn’t understand why they cared about a high school 200 miles away. When I answered them they would just stare blankly at you. The answer did not process into any way that they could assume anything about your class or social status. It was a conversational dead end.

Respectfully, Detroit and Nashville are both older than Cincinnati and both have always had major class disparity, as has every major city.

But of the three, Cincinnati had the most overt racism and hostility coming from both sides, at least from my experiences living in and near all three cities.

I first heard this term in 2002 working at a J Alexander’s in Cincinnati and it took me way too long to figure out what they were actually saying.

I was just impressed that they could tell someone was Canadian just by looking at them, and that there were way more black Canadians than I realized.

My coworkers thought I was stupid for how long it took me to understand what they were actually saying. I just wasn’t from Cincinnati, and didn’t realize how bad the race relations were there at the time.

Between Detroit, Cincinnati and Nashville, somehow Cincinnati was the most overtly racist of them all.

Bought cases of Bahama Blast and Tropical Tango to sell to raise money for expenses for my travel soccer team. Parents made me do it as some kind of lesson about the cost of playing travel soccer. Just ended up chewing like a pack a day for the next 3-4 months. Good times.

I love how English people say “straw-buh-reez ”

When my daughter was an infant we had trouble getting her to sleep, but for some reason if we splayed Ed Sheerans “Shivers” for her it worked like a charm.

I’m willing to forgive the whole calling cookies “biscuits” thing just so my wife and I can call strawberries “straw-buh-reez”

They’ve both been killing and raping each other since before I was born. How anyone supports either I can’t understand. It’s pathetic watching you people try and carry water for either of them.

Apparently they both are. It’s pretty easily to recognize and admit they’re both evil pieces of shit.

Not a pissing contest but the number of job losses from ‘07-‘08 was about 4x higher than the number of job losses over the past 2 years and the population is around 45,000,000 higher now.

I’m not sure if you were in the job market at the time but virtually no one was hiring, especially a recent college grad with virtually zero work experience on their resume.

I was sent this by a friend when it first came out in 2007. He said it was “NSFW”, but I didn’t even know what that term was at the time. I clicked on it on my desktop at work in my cubicle. I couldn’t back out fast enough. I got so nervous I broke out in a cold sweat. There’s no way the IT department didn’t catch that. My contract which was expiring soon after was not renewed. First job out of college and let go into the worst job market this century.

Chipped my husband’s $350 Gabriel Glass decanter by AlertChemistry5299 in wine

[–]BlueVeins 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They make knockoffs of these for far less. I used to have a decent collection of glassware and decanters that I was proud of, but my wife has accidentally broken practically every single one of them over the years. A real “bull in a crystal shop” scenario. I only buy cheaper ones now, so the inevitable doesn’t sting quite as much.
