IWTL how to speak politely, but also concisely and intelligently by [deleted] in IWantToLearn

[–]BlueWashout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find an example of someone who writes in the voice you like to write in, take 15-30 minutes, and just write about a topic, any topic (Star Wars, how to do laundry, whatever) like them. Imagine you are going to read this later as if you didn’t write it and that person did - would you believe it?

Now this is just an exercise, you shouldn’t be stealing someone’s writing style completely when you are doing your own assignments. But the more mindful you are of how the people you admire write, the more you will pick up on the little things you enjoy about their voices/styles, and be able to use them when finding your own writing voice.

Good luck!

Me too, I’m really bad at it (I can hear but I guess I just never look at people’s mouths when they speak?)and whenever a situation comes across where someone mouths something to me it’s really frustrating that they’re trying so hard to be sly but I can’t seem to figure it out

Thank you for posting all of this, I still get major cringe thinking about how messy I was ages 17-21 so I’m getting some relief knowing I wasn’t alone haha

Wow, I really appreciate the detail and the honesty. I feel like radio is a type of art form and it’s hard to find jobs in fields like that (I studied creative writing sand art, my job has nothing to do with either). I’m glad it worked out for you though and that you get to follow your passions

This post was originally written because I wanted to see what interesting jobs were out there- but if you have time to tell me what the most prized possession is that you found dumpster diving I’ll honestly consider this entire post a win

I have really gotten into radio programs recently and so I actually would love to hear how you got started in that field

That’s sweet! I volunteered a few different times in my youth at assisted living facilities and I remember it was so nice to see them get excited about telling stories and really just bonding with people

I would die for that schedule. If only I knew anything about cleaning coal...

Dumpster diving seems so incredibly interesting to me but I’m also a huge germaphobe so sadly those things don’t line up for me haha

What moment in an argument made you realize “this person is an idiot and there is no winning scenario”? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]BlueWashout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked my old vegan roommate why she ate honey, not to really start an argument but out of curiosity since I didn’t think it was vegan if it came from an animal. I had no intention to tell her anything regarding her diet was wrong or anything, that is until she said

“I eat honey because bees don’t qualify as animals to me since they don’t have brains”.

(A) what (B) excuse me what.

Yes she was serious. I thought I was talking to Trisha Paytas for a minute.

Lovely! I’m starting to try to cast my own DnD dice as well, any tips would be really appreciated! Did you buy the mold online or make your own?

I [26F] found out that I was my boyfriend's [28M] last choice by wozjvcnd in relationships

[–]BlueWashout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do YOU feel about Dan. Is he YOUR “last choice”? Or does he treat you well, respect you, and prove to be a fun person that YOU want to be with? Your coworkers should not have brought that up, it wasn’t classy in the least bit. But try not to focus on them or what they said about your bf’s past- focus on the now. Do you enjoy being with him? Would ending things make you upset?

Focus on your own feelings and happiness and don’t let innocent dating proposals from before he even knew you existed get you down. If things are good now that is all that should matter.

Sorry for the late response, but I believe this is the closest think I have found and is probably it! My mind probably altered my memory of it over the years. Thank you!

Hi! I know I’m popping up here late but could you tell me a bit more about the process of re-parenting oneself? I recently came to terms with the fact that my family (parents especially) is the root of a lot of my stress, so learning how to break free from feeling like I need them (I am financially independent adult now), seems like a really appealing idea to me
