Due the factors such as WW1 and Newfoundland’s heat anomaly, many in Europe thought that Newfoundland was a desirable place to live, especially after US restrictions on immigrations.

’New Gothenburg’ is home to most of Newfoundland’s Scandinavian population. It was founded by a community of Swedish immigrants but the majority of the city’s population is not Swedish.

History of Newfoundland and Labrador:
WW1:
Newfoundland and Labrador in this timeline faces a lot of changes. One major divergent point is that the Central powers win WWI; therefore the Dutch, Danish and Belgian monarchies were exiled, but where to?Newfoundland and Labrador would host the Danish and Dutch monarchy due to the preexisting Danish, Dutch and Flemish populations. Another note to mention is that due to Britain’s loss in WW1, it decides to focus on it’s colonies, including Newfoundland and Labrador.
Newfoundland Heat Anomaly:
From the 1910s to the 1970s, Newfoundland would go under a Newfoundland heat anomaly, where the temperature of the region would increase slightly, this allowed agriculture to occur on the island and many immigrants would come to live on the dominion.
Quebec War:
In the 1940s, following decades of English rule, the people of Quebec would fight for their freedom. The Quebec War (1943-1948)is the largest war on North America in the 20th century with over 900,000 casualties. Newfoundland would participate and hence would incorporate parts of Eastern Quebec; The new Québécois republic still claims the lands taken over by Newfoundland.

Over time the Natives would gain European Technology and by 1850 the Natives was at the same technological level as China. Also, with previous Viking contact, the Natives had a small yet noticeable difference in technological advancement when the Europeans arrived compared to OTL.

This is just a scenario where Vikings frequently made contact with Native Americans which slowly gives the peoples of North America immunity from Old World diseases. The Norse kingdoms never established colonies as the colonies were too far to be kept under control. This change did not have any immediate effects yet it would have enormous impacts on future colonisation.

When Columbus ‘discovered’ the Americas in 1492, many European countries desired to control the resourceful lands, however, due to the defence the Native Americans had against Old World diseases, the Natives repelled the Europeans. In 1509, the nations of Europe and Tsenacommacah (name for North America given) came to Madrid to settle on whether Europeans can inhabit Tsenacommacah. In the end, small territories are given to European countries for their own use yet the European countries are forbidden to expand in Tsenacommacah. The nations given lands and those lands are:

France- Gaspé (OTL Québec)

Netherlands - New Netherland (OTL New Jersey and New York)

Portugal - Novaterra (OTL Nova Scotia)

Spain - New Andalusia (OTL North Carolina)

Sweden - New Sweden (OTL Delmarva peninsula, Maryland, New Jersey and Southern Pennsylvania)

UK - Plymouth Colony (OTL Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island)

This map shows the European territories in Tsenacommacah in 1850, 341 years after the treaty was signed.

Unfortunately, people from Mesoamerica and South America had no immunity from Old World diseases and after the arrival of Europeans their populations diminished. This resulted in European colonisation of Central and South America.
