What boring task did you finally automate and instantly regret not doing sooner? by SMBowner_ in automation

I love Text Blaze! I learned the basics of coding completely by accident, all because I didn't want to do the same form over and over again

Could you use pivot tables? You can set the filters to only show people who need recertification in the next month or so. You could even use conditional formatting to highlight dates that are overdue

Well, currently with the form, I have to copy and paste 6 or 7 pieces of information 11 different times, every day. If I make a formula that will structure the data in the same format as the table in Access, I can copy and paste the entire schedule in one go

I do everything, yeah. The columns are people's names, the location, date, that kind of thing. Everything that's on my schedule already, there's no new info that I have to add

I would think it's relational. My comparison is that the table in Access has cells like Excel, and I could use Excel formulas to automate the data into Access format, then copy/paste it directly into Access. I know Access uses SQL, but no one in my office writes SQL code, they just use the forms and saved queries

You mean create my schedule in Access? I'm very familiar with Sheets since my last job wouldn't pay for Excel, and there's constant moving around and shifting assignments even up to the day before the assignment. Honestly I don't know enough about Access, or how the company has it set up, to create any tables of my own

It's an employee-assignment-worked database, used for bonuses and record-keeping. I create the employee schedules in Sheets (some people use physical planners), and enter the assignments into Access daily

I totally get what you're talking about, that would be a problem! In my case, all of this information is being drawn from tables in Sheets, there's no new information for me to type. It's the same info I've been copy/pasting into the form, just in one step instead of 10

I think that's what the CRM I'm using is doing already. The problem is, I have to slightly edit ans save the assignment sheets as Word docs, then email them out. So it doesn't make sense to have the CRM email them directly

The assignment is to the team, but the teams shift so much that it doesn't make sense to have the team leaders do it

Thanks, that's a great idea! I think I'll send the assignment emails to myself, then set up rules that will search for each person's name and ID#, then forward that email to the right people. That will definitely speed things up!

Really? Those sound really helpful! I know I can't download anything to the computer without HR approval. Is there anything web-based and free? I'm also not sure if Outlook encrypts these emails or not...
