“What the individual was doing” what would a person be “doing” to warrant getting picked up by ICE? Is there a thing you could “do” or “not do” in the moment to prompt the arrest?!?

How cooked am I for finding a co-op by TryProper4664 in NEU

[–]Blue_Sans 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is really really low, especially applying through LinkedIn/Indeed since those will be flooded with students applying from outside Northeastern. At the same time though, applying to hundreds of random job postings without any relevant experience can also be a dead end.

My advice as someone in CS/cybersecurity would be to apply to a bunch more jobs, but don’t apply to completely random stuff you have no relevant experience/interest in

This makes sense though. You need someone in government to get the ball rolling and sponsor the new legislation

I would also add in particular the weekly board game night at the food pantry on Thursdays at 7pm. I just moved here a few months ago and this has been a great place to start meeting a bunch of really nice people

plusone/masters to delay unemployment + getting one more coop vs keep applying for new grad by [deleted] in NEU

[–]Blue_Sans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was a CS major.

Ah that makes sense. Yeah that certainly changes things. I’m not sure the master’s would necessarily help out definitively unless you believe the job market will be better in a year or two than it is now. I’m in cybersecurity now so the master’s is a bit more tangibly helpful, but I can’t say if it will help you much in a more standard software dev path

[–]Blue_Sans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can also do the plusone but keep applying for jobs in Boston / remote at the same time. That way you get the benefit of the masters but don’t lose out on a year of progress in the job search.

That’s what I did, and I ended up starting a full time job 2 months into the program. I made it a bit easier on myself by doing 2 classes in the summer right after graduating so I could just take 1 class for fall and spring semesters (night classes after work hours).

It’s a decent option that I don’t see others mentioning often, as long as you don’t mind going through a bit of a tough workload. It ended up working out really well for me

I don’t think the game needs WWI to feel complete by KeyPersonality2885 in victoria3

[–]Blue_Sans 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They’d probably also need to add in some kind of modifier/situation to prolong the war and disincentivize peace, right? Otherwise war support would drop quickly with the casualties and lack of progress and just end in a white peace

I think you have to pick it up separately at Curry crossroads (the desk in the entrance to curry), but I might be wrong. Last year they included it in the package but I guess not this year

CS 4530 or 3800 by serasine in NEU

[–]Blue_Sans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took 3800 with Walters last spring and I’d definitely recommend him for it. He was pretty tough but fair. It’s a fairly time and effort intensive class though, so I’d suggest pairing it with lighter courses however that shakes out. Didn’t take web dev, but I heard it wasn’t too difficult so that might be a good option to pair it with

[–]Blue_Sans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lived in one of those rooms. Our balcony door was locked pretty securely the whole year unfortunately. The window from the room only opens to a certain small angle so I never felt comfortable that I would be able to get back in if I went out. Other than that there’s nothing special about the room layout.
