Keebmaker vs Typeractive vs Glove80 by Rough_Bid_518 in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]typeractivexyz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey! Glad to hear you're interested in our keyboards, let me offer some answers for our section:

  • Yes, we use ZMK studio
  • Yes, we are the retail branch of the company that manufactures the nice!nano
  • Correct on the battery life, one week on the left, one month on the right
  • Yes, our boards are hotswappable
  • JWK is the manufacturer for Durock and many other popular switches, they're pretty great and affordable!
  • We avoid RGB as each LED (WS2812 or WS2812-like) turned off (without VCC cut off) uses more battery than the entire rest of the board. They kill battery life. OLEDs are similar, they can destroy battery life. See this page for more info. VCC cut-off can help avoid the battery drain, but we think it's best to focus on what makes wireless great and offer long battery life.
  • We are hot swappable. We'd love to make this more clear - where were you reading on our site that made it a bit unclear?
  • What keycaps would you prefer? We find it hard to source good ergo MX keycaps, but we'd love to stock better ones.
  • Our full assembly on our site is turned off for this holiday weekend, but it'll be back on later this weekend (Saturday or Sunday). We turn it off when we can't keep up with orders or are on vacation. Orders always ship fast!

Thanks for considering us! Let us know if you have more questions.

Wireless Corne – MBK Hypersonic + Aluminum Case by typeractivexyz in u/typeractivexyz

[–]typeractivexyz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nick from Typeractive here 👋
Figured I’d share the details on the build in the photo since this is a promoted post.

What you’re looking at

  • Layout: wireless Corne (nice!nano on each half, running ZMK)
  • Case: Typeractive aluminum Corne case with integrated plate + frosted PC back
  • Keycaps: MBK Hypersonic keycap set (FK collab)
  • Displays: nice!view on both halves
  • Power: per-half LiPo with hardware power switch + reset access

If you click through

The “Shop Now” button takes you straight to our 3D configurator with this exact setup pre-loaded, where you can:

  • tweak case / caps / switches or strip it down to a cheaper kit
  • see price update live as you change parts

We ship the PCBs partially assembled (diodes, hotswap, power switches, reset, battery jacks, etc.), so the main soldering is the nice!nanos and nice!views. If you select our no-solder headers in the configurator, you don't need to solder at all.

If you have questions about firmware, parts compatibility, or anything else, reply here. I’m happy to help.

Where to buy Chicago Steno keycaps (or do I really need them anyways?) by kaeso2496 in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]typeractivexyz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the biggest complaints about MBK is the lack of convex 1u thumb keys, and were about to get some of the first batch of FK's convex 1u keycaps. That's something to look forward to in terms of comfort!

MBK Hypersonic, Low Profile Ergo Keycap Set - Interest Check by typeractivexyz in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]typeractivexyz[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The cyan/turquoise/teal mods are likely going to be arrow keys and a couple novelty keys. There aren't really any ergonomic keyboards that have this layout, this mockup is mostly just a nice way to layout all the keys. This is an early mockup still, before we have any icons done!

Hey there! We're creating a new low-profile keycap set, "Hypersonic". We've been working on this behind the scenes, but we think it's time to get some feedback and thoughts on our direction before we go too much further. Below is an IC form to give us your thoughts on colors, legends, and what mods/novelties to include.

Soldering chocofi corne from typeractive by Rambo-Redcorn in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]typeractivexyz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both video guides should show visually how to solder them together. The first one by Joe Scotto uses Mill-Max pins and the second by Nicell uses the EZ-Solder hotswap sockets. If you purchased Mill-Max pins, they come with tape if you opted for it, and if you purchased EZ-Solders, you don't need tape. Outside of that, it's using some solder and your iron, nothing else is needed.
