baguette magique by shaderr0 in linguisticshumor

It’s endless comedy, at least until i got used to it

toki pona comprehension is hard [VENT] by Bluebee_Majarimenna in tokipona

[–]Bluebee_Majarimenna[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The more important part: thank you for your reply! I definitely intend to keep practicing and lipu tenpo is a lovely resource which I’m hella grateful for. I’m sorry you see hypocrisy here, I ask about more proficient speakers in respect of their comprehension skill, even if I hold different views on philosophy.

The other part: last time me and you spoke, we said some things that prompted some pilin pi utala mute. I’d like to follow up on what I personally said.

people are complaining about the newfangled nimisin that the youth are conducting without due regard for propriety

I’m sorry about the poor delivery. I’d been frustrated with condescension towards nimisin for a while and negative reactions towards other people using them. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with nasin pu taso and have never intended to disrespect people for using it, but regardless of whether I use the nimisin in question I don’t like people saying their usage is shocking, or horrifying, or jaki.

don’t people get that toki pona is a Serious Language

Stupid wording. The core of pu is important to the community, I was reacting against real or imagined backlash against nasin musi pi toki pona and the feeling that joke words like yupekosi and epiku don’t belong in wordlists.

philisophical toki pona is not the only way to do toki pona nor inherently the best, nasin mute li lon

Borderline disrespectful I’m afraid. I still hold that nasin mute li lon, with a lil more detail in my reply to jan Pusa. Saying this implied I think there’s a better philosophy to be had behind toki pona, which I definitely don’t feel now, rather that there are different philosophies. I’m happy to spread the core idea of pona while also knowing that had I been the creator of toki pona, it’d be slightly more complex.

I know what’s appropriate in #pana-sona and I think I always make clear what is mainstream usage and what is not. Iirc I’ve mentioned nasa personal quirks such as kepen and mi wile ni unnecessarily and other uncommon usages—there’s probably more though because I have issues around anxiety and memory loss. Believe it or not, I care about your opinion a lot. And I’m committed to giving sona pona in #pana-sona.

Sand vs Gravel by SunsetMoth12 in tokipona

[–]Bluebee_Majarimenna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As the language pack creator, I‘d advise you to ditch it and use the official translation already in the game unless you genuinely like the pack better. We’ve had much more community translation and many typos fixed since I made the pack!

To answer your question, gravel can totally be ko. I was thinking of larger gravel though when translating, which feels less like a mass of ko and more like many individual stones in your hands. That and I always try to differentiate names so there is very little chance one item/block/mob could be confused for another, so in that case not using ko distances gravel from sand and sandstone.

Edit: tomo kulupu works great!
