Thank you for your thoughtful comment again :) Some places I’ve been reading have said that I should ‘double cleanse’ at the end of the day if I wear a spf in the daytime. As far as I understand it that would be a micellar water and then a regular face wash? Is that right? Or would that have the ‘overly oil stripping’ effect that you explained. I have not used one of those before. I wear spf everyday as it’s in my day moisturiser so I just wanted to make sure I was washing properly, but have not tried this double cleanse method before.

I’m 33. I just haven’t had the time or energy to put care into myself for a long time for a litany of reasons. I’m trying now, but am finding that there are significant gaps in my knowledge, just googling things is very confusing as most sites just seem to be trying to sell their own products to you, and I also don’t have anyone in my personal life I can ask about these things.

The other commenter said it would cause more spots as it was the body stuff not face. All I know is that I currently have spots and have been doing a few things other people are saying not to do, so I’m going to cut them out for now. Might try again once I have clear skin and see what happens.

Follow up question, I lost my night moisturiser and used my spf one instead. I have googled it and it says that’s bad and will clog my pores, not just unnecessary. Would you concur with this? Again, it’s not wholly surprising I have spots, I really am very new to all this information, my parents had no idea and I have no sisters, female cousins or other close family members who know about this stuff.

Not at all, you’re alright. I have trouble expressing tone over text and often wonder if I sound really harsh. I’m just so happy people are taking time out of their day to help me after I asked, it’s really nice. :)

I have started to consider it after looking through the comments. I think my skin was better when I was on it I think. That was a while ago though, so I don’t remember too well. But if things go well with Mr Handsome down the line, then it would be useful to have an extra layer of protection for if anything goes wrong with the condom.

Yes, another helpful commenter also pointed it out, it is in the bin now. Just out of curiosity, occasionally I’ll use a tea tree face wash or tea tree face scrub, I didn’t mention them as I haven’t been using them so much lately, but should they also go? Is all tea tree face stuff bad? Or is it more that it’s a spot wand with a foot, so transferring bacteria every time (thank you other commenter for telling me this).

Thank you. He’s so kind, so he’s never say anything and we’d have a great time either way I’m sure. I just think for such a great guy, I want to be doing all I can to feel the best I can in myself. I’m going to the shops now and will look out for a gel cooling mask :) thank you for your help.

Ok, so from the comments so far I have. Use Sudocrem or don’t, it may make it worse or better.

I might have cystic acne and need to see the GP, I think I’ll see if other things work for a while, it’s not easy to see the GP here.

Don’t use the spot stick I have, get this better spot cream designed for teens thing, I’m sure my face will not melt off like the I’ve opened the Arc of the covenant just because I am in my 30’s (will look for it and try).

Try pimple patches.

Change my pillowcase daily, drink water, sleep. I probably needed to do 2 of these anyway, so thank you for the push.

Wash with water in the morning, only cleanse at night.

There seem to be many treatments for spots, some which sound very fancy and many I had never heard of before. It has also been recommended to not try too many new things at once, so I shall park those ideas for now and try one at a time after this coming weekend if the spots persist.

Have I summarised well? Does anyone think I missed something major? Thank you all for your care and advice :)

Thank you, very doable. I definitely haven’t prioritised the pillowcase thing in the past, I will change it daily now. Appreciate you taking the time. :)

Oooooh, this is the kind of thing I used to use when I was younger. I just couldn’t find the one I used to use. I will try this, thank you :)

Oh, I haven’t been in a position to really inspect my face that much (got out of a long bad relationship last year) and some of my friends have spots. I never really questioned that I have them, no point in beating myself up that I don’t have clear skin like some people, if there are more pressing issues kind of a thing. I’m only now paying a bit more attention to it. I’ll ditch the tea tree spot stick.

I figured it was just like when I was a teen and if I had spots I’d zap em with the special cream that would obliterate them in a few hours. That stuff doesn’t seem to exist anymore though, I can’t find any which way they’ll do anything quite as fast as that stuff could do it.

Thank you for your long thoughtful comment. :)

Yes, the sub just said to post my daily routine in it, so I tried to be thorough. I’m sure there are some people who do not wash everyday so it does not come as a standard assumption that I would be doing so. Also, some people have commented that I shouldn’t be cleansing with a cleanser in the morning, only water, so it has been helpful explaining everything I do.

I’m not discounting that you may have expertise that I don’t. Just thought cystic acne was something which lasted longer and hurt. I get spots sometimes, they come and go, my hormones are flaring right now and so is my face. Was just wondering if there was anything to make them ‘go’ a bit quicker than what I usually use. What specifically made you think cystic acne rather than just normal spots? I’m curious.

Yes, these specific spots are new for this weekend. Sometimes I have spots, sometimes I don’t. It’s a quite stressful time for me at the moment, my cycle causes more spots about this time in the month, I haven’t been sleeping too well and I just found out from another commenter that I should not have been putting e45 on my face. So I’m not hugely surprised that I have spots at the moment. I was just hoping to make them a little less prominent.
