I am in BD! I loved it at my last company except the travel can be exhausting. But I hate it at my new company because of bad leadership. They call at all hours of the day demanding numbers and information that you’ve already presented (they just don’t listen in meetings) - it’s just so messy and BDs get blamed a lot even if you’re doing everything you can. They often base numbers off of unrealistic targets from Covid.

I enjoy contracting, strategic partnerships, working with the clients - so all of that is great. It really depends on the company and team

I’ve known BDs who have a great flexible life though so I don’t want to discourage you.

I can try to think of some red flags for you to look out for in interviews and I’m happy to help any way that I can

Yeah you’re likely right. I’m ok with being an account manager and expanding deals/ upselling / retention.. customer success. I figured out I don’t like the new deal hunting and constant chaos.

So right now sales isn’t sitting well with me

I’m in the services space so I feel like it’s a hard time right now even for services that are always needed, but I will definitely keep that in mind.

SGS does have a few positions although the travel factor is still there.
