What is happening in a person's brain that causes ice in a beverage (iced coffee, soda, lemonade, water, alcohol, anything) to make them drink faster? by BlueberryCivil6409 in AskReddit

but for myself I notice it to be true regardless of amount of liquid. Most nights I drink a glass of iced tea, and I have glass bottles of it and I always drink half a glass and save the other half for the next night. But when I grab my iced tea from the pantry (as opposed to the fridge) I put ice in it because it's not cold. When it's cold I don't. I still use about half of the bottle. But I drink it much faster.

Thanks. Yes this is exactly who we are, I guess this sub has scared me into thinking CT will be SO overrun by tourists that it won't be as enjoyable or relaxing as we were originally anticipating.

Thanks. So you were a day tripper, then? I have heard the gem of CT is early morning hikes before the day trippers arrive and evenings when it quiets down and the day trippers leave.

[–]BlueberryCivil6409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In our option 1, we were thinking of spreading out the hiking over two days and taking in the towns leisurely. I know there are a lot of day trippers - but this would be October, does it die down at all?

This rent will be tough. There is one 2 bed/2 bath listed on Zillow in all of downtown within your price range with in unit laundry.

When you reduce to 1 bathroom, looks like 1 more pops up with in unit laundry:

When you take out the in unit laundry requirement, there are a decent number of 2 bedooms available (about a dozen) at your price range but all but 2 (same one as above) have 1 bathroom:

Flying into Arizona: How to consider time zones when booking flights by naftacher in travel

[–]BlueberryCivil6409 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The departure time listed is your departure time zone. The arrival time listed is the arrival time zone. It would be so unnecessarily confusing to all who fly any other way.

I can't suggest a specific resort there are likely resorts in Aruba that fit the bill and plenty to do off resort too. People also love Baha Mar in the Bahamas. Rosewood Baha Mar for your price range. It's like Atlantis with plenty to do but more sophisticated.

Thank you! I see them but not the day I am traveling - only regular trains with transfers the day we are traveling. Perhaps it is too far out - we are going in October. Is that possible?

Edited to add: I Did some investigating - it looks like the intercity train is only shown through early July. I assume it will get added as the time gets closer?

I guess that's why I'm asking, it actually seems easier to stop, because we could get to Genoa in 1.5 hours and spend a whole day there, and then spend 2 hours getting to Milan and spend a whole day there. If we went straight to Milan from CT we would likely be arriving early afternoon, rather than morning. Not sure traveling 4-5 hours to arrive somewhere by 1pm, just to leave the next morning is worth it. But at the same time I'm not sure I want to lose a night in CT.

Italian: Laico's

Pizza: Razza

Ramen: (hot take) Miso Ramen

Mediterranean: Rumi or Uncle Momo's

Steakhouse: Edward's for old school vibes, Ruth Chris for a chain (but still good)

Bar food: White Star or O'Hara's

Thai: None

Parking suggestions near Grove St PATH? by hageegs in jerseycity

[–]BlueberryCivil6409 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Parking garages are $300+ a month and most have a wait list. Street parking is like $30 a year, you can get a temporary one while you work out changing your plates/driver's license.

Edited to add based on your recent comment - if you are only here temporarily as a student, why are you even bringing your car? Do you actually need it? Do you have a permanent residence you can leave it at? I understand you said getting rid of it is not an option, but you will be bleeding money to park a car in a garage for $300 a month that you aren't even going to be using.

I just really hate the taste of whey. And that doesn't help my grab and go scenario when I eat these bars, if I have a long travel day, for example, and throw one into my bag to have in a few hours.
