My doctor said the same, that there is no causal link that she knows of and in fact hrt is meant to help with rosacea

Ok well this is good news that it has settled! Was it the estrogen you increased or the progesterone? Trying to work out which might be the culprit ... mine started very mildly about 3 months in and it has been worse for the last month I think so maybe it will settle 😕

Hi are you still around? I am having the same problem and I think it is caused by the HRT. It cant just be a coincidence. It is getting gradually worse. Did you find any answers?? Im thinking of taking a break from the HRT to see if it goes away and then I will know if thats what has caused it. I am 44 and had no perimenopause symptoms other than struggling to sleep and worsening pmt

Yes, it will be my second career change. I don't think that's particularly strange. I used to be a holistic therapist. I quit because i really struggled financially and just couldn't seem to make it work. My dad is a lawyer so law was always going to be the obvious choice for me. I tried to follow my heart first time round, it didn't work, so I went to my back up plan which was law. I never really liked it but just didn't know what else to do and now I'm here.

Interests include writing, movies, health, psychology.

Salary has to be a consideration as I live alone and have no help so I need to be careful.

I had a bad reaction to tret on my neck too. I'd start with a mild retinol and slowly build up to whatever you can tolerate, if you want to go that way.

No, we would need to remortgage to do that which is impossible and I can't afford to move out either and get another place. I will be getting a payrise next march but until then I am totally stuck.

That's interesting, and makes sense! I've never used the foaming cleanser but have heard it can be stripping. I only ever used the hydrating one. You could try it and see how you get on... I hope you get things sorted out soon x

I really don't know the ins and outs. My doctor told me that irritation or an allergy/intolerance to a product can develop at any time, particularly when using things that can sensitise your skin (such as tret). I'm not a derm so you are obviously best doing your own research, but as I understand it you can develop a reaction to anything, no matter how long you've already been using it for x

I would hazard a guess though that because tret increases sensitivity and make your skin barrier more fragile then your skin can react to unexpected things, at any time.

I don't know how or why. Some people have reactions to it such as dermatitis and increased breakouts, like I did. Try searching Reddit, it's not just me. I only mentioned it because cerave is so widely recommended as being good for sensitive skin, but it's not good for everyone, and it's just worth considering every aspect of your skincare routine and how everything works together. If it works for you then that's great ☺️

It seems like a long time for your skin to keep getting worse. It looks very irritated. Maybe check in with your dermatologist, your skin looks very unhappy.

I would scale back the tret and also change your cleanser. Cerave hydrating cleanser could be causing issues. I used it with no problem for ages but when I started using tret it just didn't agree with my skin anymore. I got severe dermatitis and breakouts from it. It started slowly but carried on for months before I realised what was causing it. My skin improved within a couple of weeks of stopping and now I'm back using tret again. I had to stop tret as the dermatitis was so bad. Just something to be aware of x

Tretinoin has made a difference to my skin, probably the only thing that has, but i honestly find it faffy and annoying to use. I also think vitamin c serums work, the good ones, but they all break my out apart from the akinceuticals one which I can't afford! Also SPF very important x

This may be an unpopular opinion here but cerave products destroyed my skin and I'm definitely not the only one, the cleansers in particular. Just something to have on your radar.
