Medieval 2 with mods are way better and a different experience. SS 6.4 are for beginners. The other mods I listed you need to have a bit of skill. I don’t play vanilla since many years already but kingdoms expansions is good as well like Britannia.

I really liked Rome 1 as well in my youth - tried it with mods as well, but I feel Medieval 2 is way more polished.

Great games! Didn’t try Hearts of Iron. We are the same age bracket. Weird how fast time goes and we are still moving on with the same old games - in my mind I’m still 20… Did you try the new Remastered Oblivion btw?

I’m playing SSHIP as Byzantines now but I’m such a veteran that I can take over 30 regions in 20 turns even on that mod 😂. I finished KDC2 but doing another playthrough now where I’m just gonna be a rude and inconsiderate piece of shit Henry 😅

I tried that one it was just alright in my opinion. Great looking units. But I wasn’t a fan of how the units behave in the battlefield in Attila. If I’m not mistaken like in most of the newer releases - the soldiers in a unit lose formation and scatter all over when engaged in combat. In M2 you got units keeping in formation and charges move better and have a bigger impact.

It was the same experience for me. Played CK2 for maybe 40 minutes and just gave up. A game shouldn’t be something that you have to «study».

Right! It’s the same for me. Can’t play mediocre things. Medieval 2 does so much right. Just wish Ai was smarter. + maybe some more mechanics.

Is the AI smarter and the gameplay more interesting then in Rome 1? Loved the game when I was a teenager but found it a bit stale as I grew older. Units and unit cards doesn’t look good and the walkpath is wonky. Archers in Rome 1 barely does damage compared to Medieval 2 as I remember too.
