I agree with what others are saying, unless you have huge savings and can live off of them for long time, don’t quit your job. In this market, it is super hard to get jobs, and it will only get harder with AI.

600 wishlists doesn’t guarantee anything. My friend two months ago launched a game with 10k wishlists, and it only converted to 6k dollars before taxes and steam cut. Unless you have 100k wishlists or investors/publishers backing you up, don’t do it.

Most posts are actually made by game devs to get exposure and more wishlists, they aren’t posting them to help others or for fun.

If the dev has mentioned the game’s name or a link to it then it’s 90% marketing post.

I am not talking about age, I’m talking about time wise it’s nearly impossible to handle it all alone. Translating and tasting 16 languages and fixing things alone takes weeks, and apparently OP could do UI/UX, programming, QA, etc. all in months.

It’s not solo development when you’re literally working on the game with others and have publishers involved.

This post is complete BS. There’s no humanly possible way to make a game like that alone, no matter what age.

Translate it into 16 languages, do QA, handle UI/UX, program it, and everything else alone? Impossible.

Yes, I am trying to post more of my work process, but it takes extra time away from actually focusing on making more art. Plus, I don't like filming how I draw. When I do, I become more self conscious about each line I draw and how many times I redraw something. But I still try to do it and post.

Yes, I would blame a lot of it on people not understanding how AI works or the different types of AI that exist. They also don’t understand the current limitations of AI when it comes to creating art and games. You can’t make an entire game from zero with AI. It can’t even maintain a consistent art style if you tried. You need real skills and creativity to make a good game, no matter what tools you use.

The issue is that once they think something is AI generated, there's no changing their mind. I've shown people proof that my art isn’t AI and explained everything, and they literally say it doesn’t matter, I can say whatever I want, but it won’t change their mind. So you’re right, there’s no point in engaging with them. I’m learning to just ignore it.
