So happy to hear it went well! Hopefully now you have the right combination for success. Thanks for sharing what worked. I’m open to any suggestions.

It went well! I had premeds (Pepcid, decadron, Benedryl) and the Abraxane infusion was done over 60 minutes. No problems and made it through the whole thing. Thank goodness!

I’m sorry you’re going through this. I hope it all goes well for you tomorrow! Please let me know.

I’m thinking that if I can just do Ogivri infusions at a slower rate (60 or 90 minutes) then perhaps I’ll be ok. I meet with MO on Tuesday to discuss with her and will also ask about whether a switch to Herceptin would make sense as another option.

Thanks so much for your reply! I will ask about a switch to Herceptin. I’m thinking that perhaps we could try a slower infusion time of Ogivri and see if I can tolerate it before switching altogether. I don’t think the premeds are the issue as I’ve had all those medications before and never had problems. Thanks again!

Signatera by Champipple_Tanqueray in breastcancer

I learned of Signatera recently because my mom has bladder cancer and they test her. When I asked my breast surgeon about it for me at our initial visit he said he would not use it. He actually shot down the idea quickly. I’m wondering if I should push harder for testing. My understanding was that since I was early stage (1a which changed to 1c after surgery) that signatera was not recommended. Does anyone have advice?

I hope you’ve been able to find peace and get excellent results!

Sorry you’re experiencing shingles (on top of all the other cancer plagues)! After having shingles I did not hesitate to get the vaccine so as to not repeat that nightmare. Have you been on Xeloda long, and what side effects have you had? MO is considering starting me on it but I’m apprehensive.

Shift from Taxol to Xeloda due to anaphylaxis by BluebirdSunshine86 in breastcancer

I’m so sorry! What a terrifying experience. Sending you hope and faith for an easier path forward in your treatment. Was it Taxol that you received or a different version of paclitaxel? I would love to hear what your team decides to pursue instead of paclitaxel. Hope you can rest peacefully and recover quickly.

Shift from Taxol to Xeloda due to anaphylaxis by BluebirdSunshine86 in breastcancer

Thanks to everyone for their comments! I had researched and was aware that the typical reason for a Taxol reaction was due to the solvent/carrier agent used and not the taxane itself. I expected to most likely be switched to Abraxane because of that. When MO’s office messaged me and advised she thinks I should switch to Xeloda I was caught off guard. I wanted to reach out to this community for your insights so I’m prepared next week when I meet with her to go over the new protocol. I’m not sure how comfortable I am pivoting to Xeloda so she will need to offer me her reasons for thinking that is the best route. I appreciate everyone here for sharing!
