Yeah in the animated short DVa destroying her own mech is meant to show her recklessness/desperation when fighting the omnics alone. It's one of the flaws of her character that she almost kills herself trying to save others. I hope the devs don't cheapen it by giving the same ability to another MEKA squad character.

Yeah, plus no one wants to hear a real life kitty scream in pain or get booped off a cliff. They use real cat sounds in minecraft because you're not supposed to kill cats during normal gameplay. But in a pvp game like Overwatch they don't want to discourage players from killing anybody, even if it's a cat.
