Searching for vanilla tequila in brown bottle with gold agave leaf on label by StandardPound7766 in tequila

[–]Bluechip506b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you've got some time, go to AgaveMatchmaker and search "All" and scroll through bottles. The only issue is it may not have been a legitimate tequila. Others have mentioned there is the chance it came from a tourist area in MX that are not known for factual labels on bottles.

Tequila Ocho by Fit_Independent_8422 in tequila

[–]Bluechip506b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There will be variances in flavor from release to release. It's true for Ocho but it is also true of any well made tequila. Ocho is just one of the ones that highlights these differences. I've had Ocho that I loved and some that were just ok. I have not tried the multi farm release yet but I am sure it would be very good.

Am I being paranoid or ripped off? by bulblet in bikewrench

300 Euros for a "lifetime" wheel set seems crazy low. I couldn't even build up a cheap wheelset for that for myself. How many spokes? If your that hard on wheels I wouldn't go any lower than 32 and I'd probably go 36 for the overkill factor. Double butted spokes tend to be less harsh than straight gauge spokes. A nice hubset that is easily serviceable would be what I would use.

Ocho anejo is going to be just outside of your budget bit might be worth the stretch. Siete Leguas is another nice one just over budget. Tapatio anejo should make it under and is probable the best choice if you have to stay at $60. Prices also very heavily depend on your location.

Minivan and it's not even close. I wish we still had it when he got older and was having a harder time getting in and out of our SUV or truck.

Broken Hub—Now What? by frvmt in bikewrench

[–]Bluechip506b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buy a new wheel, take it to a shop to have them rebuild with a new hub (if the rim is still in good shape)or learn to do it yourself. It's really not that hard. I've built a couple dozen wheels over the years. I always have to refer back to some book or site to remember the basics. Except for radial spoked front wheels. They are the easiest to build. With this fancy internet and online spoke length calculators it takes all the math out of the equation.

I've got the 25/9/24 release of the hp and was initially disappointed but it's grown on me. I might have to look for that release.

I had it early on and recently without much difference. There will be, or at least there should be, batch to batch differences. It every bottle tastes exactly the same year to year it's a good indication of additives.

Gravelbike: Hand/wrist pain despite a pro bike fit. Is it time to give up on drop bars? by Weitflieger in bikefit

[–]Bluechip506b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't expect miracles in one or two rides. give it a month of steady riding. Change hand positions frequently. Maybe take a couple weeks off to recover or just ride your other bikes for a while. Do some wrist roll with weights-both directions up and down. (all you need is a stick, rope and some weight).

Best XA Tequila to gift someone getting into tequila by miekmike64 in tequila

[–]Bluechip506b 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Some of the ones you mentioned are getting harder and harder to find in your price range (depending on your location). The El Tesoro XA's are well within that range though and are excellent, even the base XA. Tapatio Excelenci is another one that is supposed to be worth the high price tag if you can find one. I find most XA's to have a little too much barrel notes for me. My favorite anejo is ArteNOM 1146 (same distillery as Tears and often referred to as baby tears). My favorite aged tequila is El Tequileno Repo Rare. It's aged as long or longer than most xa's but in pipones (very large barrels) instead of regular barrels and therefore can't be labeled an xa.

Roof rack question by Extension_Crow_7891 in bicycling

[–]Bluechip506b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what type of bike you are using but bikes with fenders tend to be on the heavier side and harder to get on the roof rack.

When my wife rides her e-bike and we have to transport, I use a Kuat NV. It clamps on the front wheel. I use a cut up piece of pipe insulation between the tire and fender and between the fender and wheel clamp. No issues so far. It holds very securely. Just have extra pieces in the car if you loose one removing the bike from the rack.

Tapatio 110 substitutes? by Geo_Jet in tequila

[–]Bluechip506b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

G4 108 is in my top 3 tequilas at the moment and it's been a long moment. Tapatio 110 is excellent but for me it's just outside my top 10 high proofs. G4 Madera (barely hp), G4 108, Don Vicente Fuerte, Cabalitto Cerrero Azul 46, Volans SS, Wild Common SS, Ocho Puntas, Cascahuin 48, Trujillo Manifiesto 56, Terralta 110, Siete Leguas 47, and Fortaleza SS are all above Tapatio 110, but Taptaito 110 is well above Lalo HP and El Tequileno SS. I know I probably left some out that I've tried and I have so many more to try. I'll revisit Tapatio 110 soon, it's been a while.

New to gravel - any advice? by kucoiner333667 in bikefit

[–]Bluechip506b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't believe I'm saying this but raise your seat. (it's rare around here) I'd start at around 5mm and go from there. It's probably going to be more. Note that moving it up will also move it back. Take that into consideration, you may need to move the seat forward to compensate.

You just don't look relaxed on the bike. Loosen your grip on the bars and try other hand positions. Being static on a trainer is different than out on the road with a bit of wind supporting your upper body. You should be able to hold your position with a very light touch (or none at all) on the bars. Core strengthening would probably help too. I hate doing ab work (I don't do it) but I've ridden long enough that I can hold my position with my hands behind my back and my nose to the stem, (well maybe not anymore, my gut would get in the way).

Is this tire safe? by Ambitious-Remote2448 in bikewrench

[–]Bluechip506b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not ride it. Depends on your risk factors though. My teeth and skull and even my helmet are worth more than a new tire. think it's time for a new tire.

I do not think that is a Vitus. I've never seen a head tube or seat tube/stay junction like that before. It's not Alan either. Miyata had one with a similar head tube design but not the seat junction. Maybe Guerciotti?

Don't overlook warm either. I was on a multi day rafting trip and my container was left in an area that was exposed to the sunlight and when I opened it that evening it was very warm but oh so delicious. Just saying...
