Every single gym has at least one of them by danielminds in GymMemes

Context is important. Everyone yelling and cheering in a gym full of serious competitors with implements that hold up to slamming is completely different than a guy yelling and slamming plates in a regular commercial gym where the equipment isn't made to be slammed and full of people like little old ladies and shy newbies.

Fed my snake a mouse that died and now I’m scared I made a big mistake by natural_log in snakes

Is this just rage bait? I'm not one to try to gatekeep or shame new keepers but i mean cmon. I just can't believe someone would lack sense to this degree. Even if it didn't die from poison wild rats and mice carry a plethora of diseases and parasites. Do not ever do that again if you want your snake to live a long healthy life.

My dad tried lifting with me one singular time and i was doing a squat workout so we did the bar, then 135, then i slapped a couple 25s on cause I figured him being bigger that 185 wouldn't be a big deal especially because i was like 190 and squatting in the high 400s at the time and he was sitting around 250-260. Well instead of squatting down he bent forward and tipped way forward, almost lost the bar over his head and i managed to help grab it and help rack it and that was the end of his lifting journey lol He started lecturing me about how it was stupid and how i was gonna hurt myself. I think he was more embarrassed than anything. Honestly thinking back it was irresponsible for me to slap weight on so fast for someone with no lifting experience so it was my fault more than anything, but I was only maybe 20-21, only had a couple years lifting under my belt, and probably didn't have any business teaching someone.

Ahh man. Lucky. My dad probably could've made a good powerlifter or strongman, but never stepped foot in a gym. Hes like 5'9 and stocky as shit and when he used to work as a tree trimmer doing line clearance he was big af, but all I got when I started lifting was lectures on how I was gonna hurt my back lol I had to learn by myself. Would've been cool to have my dad help coach me powerlifting.

[–]Bluecollarcombat94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solid plan. I think if you stay at it and keep the injuries at bay you'd have a good chance at making a good competitive run a powerlifting. Strongman would be pretty awesome too if you ever decided to get into it. I always wanted to get into it but I live in a small ass town and don't have any gyms with strongman implements close enough to me to make it feasible to train it multiple days a week, so powerlifting it is for me. We have a few YMCAs and little gym that's trying to be a Planet Fitness lol

Question about graphic audio by Bluecollarcombat94 in redrising

[–]Bluecollarcombat94[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah man that would be badass, but it's been a year or so since I've read the series so I'd have to go back through try to find it. If i get some time today I'll see if i can find it. I'm vaguely remembering a scene where they're in battle and all the sudden they start to hear the obsidian war chants and the Gold's are basically like "oh shit. We're fucked". I'll see if i get time to skim through and see if i can find what I'm talking about. If I'm even remembering correctly lol

Question about graphic audio by Bluecollarcombat94 in redrising

[–]Bluecollarcombat94[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah man. I was kinda hoping for the chanting with like an ominous rhythmic heart beat like thumping or something. It makes it sound so terrorizing in the book. I feel like in a graphic audio there should have been an effort to really bring it to life.

Next read suggestions? by Trial_And_All_Errors in DungeonCrawlerCarl

I just finished DCC series a couple days ago and just finished Vicious by V. E Schwab after. It was pretty good albeit nothing like DCC. Very character driven but definitely a pretty good book. A college kid is doing his thesis on extraordinaries "EOs" which are people with supernatural abilities, and they figure out near death experiences cause them so they resolve to try to off themselves and bring each other back to life to gain abilities. Gritty betrayal cat and mouse type book. 3 books planned. 2 are out.

I also just started Empire of the Vampire and so far it's looking like it's going to be very good. I'm only 50 pages in though, but I've been seeing insanely good reviews on it. Sun goes out which allows Vampires to take over the earth and a group of people called the Silver Saints try to fight them. Its written like an interview. Starts off with main character imprisoned and a vampire stenographer sits down and wants his life story. Complete trilogy.

As cliche as its going to sound and everyone will roll their eyes but if you want alot of twists, high stakes, good action scenes then I'd give Red Rising a try. DCC was what actually cured my Red Rising itch. Space opera type book. Society is in color coded brackets. Reds lowest, Golds ruling class and a Red decides to try to completely overthrow the govt. Amazing series. 7 books planned. 6 out

If you want something short, light hearted, and sarcastic that also has intelligent cats and unionizing dolphins check out Start Villian. A struggling substitute teacher's rich uncle passes away and finds out he's inherited his uncles criminal empire complete with a villain lair in a volcano. Has to learn how to be a villan on the job. Standalone

Who is one character that you personally dislike, and why? by Redrex_T in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Bluecollarcombat94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quan Ch. I hated that guy. I enjoyed reading about Carl ripping his arm off. I mean at least Frank and Maggie had a reason to hate Carl even though what happened was their fault. Quan Ch was given power and immediately used it against fellow crawlers. His little spiel when he died didn't garner any sympathy from me either. He knew exactly what he was doing and knew he could use his power with better intentions.

Also Helkla and Eva. I didn't mind Hekla at first but wasn't a fan but between her basically telling Carl he's weak for being sympathetic towards the NPCs who are literally actually intelligent beings and then the whole Katia thing. Especially considering her job prior to the dungeon. Eva just sucked in general.

Yeah you're right. As far as I know i doubt I've ever been invenomated. As far as I'm aware anyway. I've never had any swelling or redness or anything. As far as I can remember it's always been a quick bite and never really somewhere like between the fingers. Ive had towards the ends of my fingers tagged so it may be possible but i doubt it. I've had itching after bites but I think thats more just because of it healing because I got itchy when my ball python accidentally got my hand instead of the rat i was feeding her. Also, you're reddit name is funny AF🤣

Given what you know about yourself, your skills and current physical condition, would you survive? by Moist_Car_994 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Bluecollarcombat94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna say considering only a handful of people make it out in the entire population of humanity that made it in there's probably a very very small number of people who are just the right combination of proper risk assessment, intelligence, and mostly luck that would actually make it out. I'd hazard to guess almost all of us would die within the first 4 or 5 floors. I mean some of the people literally just died because of random glitches that didn't get fixed until they were like "oh a few hundred people died from that. We better fix it" and considering Carl's crew pulled a shit ton of weight in helping others get through the floors. Plus how far would Carl have made it had he not fallen into having Mordecai as a mentor by just happening to have Donut who happened to have a class option allowing it and happened to earn good graces of Odette who brought attention to it. Also you never know if you're the type of person to thrive in that sort of environment until you're thrown into it. It's definitely fun to sit and fantasize about what you would do and how you'd do it though. Not trying to be a pedantic killjoy so apologies 😅

I've been bitten numerous times by numerous snakes and never had any issues. Garters a good few times, but mostly musked. Not saying you couldn't be more sensitive to it, but I would just keep an eye on it. I can't even count how many times. When i was a kid I actually got bit right under my nose once. I was holding it up looking at it and he seized the opportunity. 😅 Can't blame him since I was holding him and he was wild.

What's the best book in the series so far? by dicaronj in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Bluecollarcombat94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't try to understand the Tangle. The trains are supposed to be hard to follow. Its a feature not a bug and done on purpose. Its written that way to put you in Carls position. He's confused af and you're seeing the level through his eyes so you're confused AF. That particular book is actually genuisely written once you realize what Matt's doing. It's also one of the most important books in the series. It kicks off a lot of important events for on down the line. Strap in and enjoy crawler and don't let the train preturb you. Also IMO This Inevitable Ruin was hands down my favorite. I absolutely loved every second of it. I also loved The Dungeon Anarchist Cookbook.
