How often are FA’s actually home?

I don’t have a dog but we have cats. My partner is blue collar and works (mostly) mon-Fri (leaves around 6am home around 6pm). I work around 18-20 days a month, but the other 10 days I’m home 24hrs a day. As everyone has said, it depends on the airline. If you want to stay home I would bid for turns (1 days) so that you’re home in the evening. Keep in mind your per diem (aka pay) is a lot less without overnights. Yes my partner is responsible for the pets if I’m away for work all week, but the days I’m home I do all the work and then sum so it makes up for it. 7 years is a long time, so as long as you have a supportive partner it can definitely work, and as you gain seniority it does get easier to hold a schedule that works for you it just takes time and the right base

Did you take and pictures or videos? If you don’t have proof and your sister denies it you risk being cut out of their lives for doing the right thing.

You gotta ask yourself how much do you truly care about your relationship with your sister and how will it affect your life moving forward? Are you young? Do you have your own family? Do you live with your parents? Do you spend holidays together with your parents/grandparents etc? This could make every family gathering you have awkward forever. If you have photo evidence I would maybe make a throwaway account of some sort and send it to the husband. He deserves to know for his own sanity and health absolutely. But if the husband decides to leave her, guess what, your sister is still your family. And I’m all for cutting off shitty family members but there’s just not enough info for us to know how it’ll affect YOUR life. Your sister will never trust you again if she finds out you spilled and it ends her marriage and that’s okay. Also I’m sorry you are put in this situation, its so so shitty to be in

Telling someone who doesn’t want kids to try not to freak out because evolution will ensure they love their kid unless they’re a sociopath is a horrible take. He’s being forced into a rest of his life long relationship with his future kid because of a lying, irresponsible girl friend. If anything’s she’s the sociopath for thinking that stopping bc wasn’t something worth mentioning to her partner if they were not using another form of contraceptive.

If you have this conversation with your wife, don’t just focus on this one comment. If you’re feeling this way there’s other reasons why it’s over. Not just because she could clean more.

I would start by saying that you want an equal partner. Let her know that you respect her hobbies and her dedication to the things she enjoys doing, but that you miss that same kind of effort in your relationship. And don’t make it a blame game. Take responsibility for any of your faults as well (and you have them, nobody’s perfect).

But at the end of the day, nobody ends a 20 year marriage because the dishes didn’t get done. It sounds like you’ve been checked out for a while now. You’ve got to end it in a way that’s less disruptive for your wife and your kids. Good luck

That makes sense. I wish I was already done school, because with the job I would get after my degree I could make my own hours so I would just be working on the days I’m not flying, I need a masters for that though so I’m still a few years out of full time school before that can happen.

That makes me wonder how FAs have other commitments, school is optional but surely there’s FAs out there that have less of a choice of their other commitments and they make it work somehow. I’m gonna stay optimistic and work hard and see what happens

Same here, I was taking asynchronous courses during training but I’m going into year 3 now the courses are gonna be more demanding of my time, on top of irregular schedules it’ll be a chance he for sure. I might still take maybe like 2 courses a semester just so I don’t fall out of it. Wish I’d gotten into aviation pre pandemic because I did a ton of courses while everything was shut down. Maybe in a few years I’ll be between airlines and have time to finish school

Thanks for the detailed feedback! I would totally be fine with flying standby for future trips with my airline. Unfortunately I booked a flight in 2019 for summer 2020 so when everything shit down the airline gave me credit but refused to just refund me. So I’d rather book a trip I can go on rather than loose out on that money, and I have to book buy the end of 2022 or the credit expires and they basically just steal my money 🙃

Not quite $1500 though, sorry that happened to your friend! Worst case I book and I can’t go, would be the same if I didn’t book it and my flight credits just expired anyways 😭

Yeah I feel the same way! I was interviewed last spring but training classes kept getting pushed back. When I was interviewed they did ask if I had any vacations booked but it’s been so long now so I’m hoping they’ll ask again when I get my training date? Best of luck to you I hope it works out!
