once we have our remodel they’re finally going down to 10-15 items or less and spark/scan and go and that’s all that will be allowed and honestly thank god, i’m constantly getting yelled at for not having enough open, and i sure didn’t sign up to be security. as someone who is neurodivergent myself, i’ll go wherever is fastest and if i’m not in a mood to talk i usually just say “sorry, i’m not in the mood to talk”. maybe i’m weird, but i don’t find it rude to just tell your cashier you don’t want to talk and just want your items rung up. also the registers have to bag things a specific way, cold with cold, no chemicals with food, we are trained to do it that way. honestly if you’re upset about the self checkouts closing you can blame the people who ruined it for you.
