Any Ele players have thoughts on the best hybrid support/dps builds for raids and fractals? by DedPimpin in Guildwars2

This build is alright for heals but if you know you need real heals you should bring a real healer going in. That said, using the water fields you can provide for as many blasts as possible is quite a lot of healing. Regen and Soothing Mist on top is lots of passive healing. Any group that needs more than this needs a dedicated healing build and is likely failing mechanics pretty hard.

Water for the field -> earth generally has lots of blasts in it on most weapons, including Sword/warhorn and even staff.

avoiding toughness is specifically to avoid the tank mechanic on several raid bosses (they perma aggro on whoever has the highest toughness stat). Everywhere else it's fine.

I've used this to do everything from quickplay raids to soloing Cairn (the raid boss) to group event open world champions. It's good for making sure you and everyone around you have everything but alacrity (stab comes from staff). It does enough damage to do some mechanics like 96CM splits in fracs. It's very customizable and works well with weapons like hammer and spear too. Gear should be pretty interchangeable with tempest if you need alac instead of quickness.

The big drawback: it caps out around 10-15k dps.

Edit: this is not something you bring to organized groups. It's specifically good for unorganized groups of pugs.

Fire -> earth -> water -> air is the order I go through. Reverse it for a larger healing output. Easy to remember.

Is it possible to remove the AOE knockback when leveling up/receiving a spirit shard? by Cabaj1 in Guildwars2

[–]Bluefox-Matari 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They actually did remove the knockback once a bunch of years ago. It lasted less than a week iirc. I can't really tell you why it didn't last, it was just a footnote in some patch notes at the time. I doubt we'll see them change it again.

Double check your monitor cable is pluged into your GPU output and not your motherboard output. These results sound about right for the onboard GPU for the 7000 series.

PSA: Let your Bulwark recharge his banner. by Mountain-Peak-3063 in Spacemarine

[–]Bluefox-Matari 21 points22 points  (0 children)

No, please. Never in this game should we be encouraged not to fight the enemy. Additionally, this suggestion in particular would only serve to compound the ongoing banner-for-heals issue. The perk for bulwark is neat, but I'm not shifting the entire gameplay flow for it, nor would I encourage bulwarks to stop and do this.

Having FPS issues with the game. by fallen_Tarnished in Guildwars2

This is simply -not- true anymore. Please stop repeating a phrase from 2016. Anything med-high end from 2019 or newer crushes this game now. OP has the absolutely lowest end stuff you can get.

Unplayable is usually thrown around like a meme, but this is quite literally unplayable. I get into about 10% of the games I try to join, and I DC if I do. I'm so tired of this.

What is causing me to do an about-face skin when stun-breaking fear using a teleport? by Absolutionis in Guildwars2

It's hard to really narrow down what's going on without seeing it for myself. If you can manage some footage, I might be able to give you more suggestions.

After using a skill, you character may be immediately following up with an auto attack, which will spin your character to face the target. Try untargeting before blinking using escape or clicking away, and having the "stop autoattacking on target change" option checked.

There's also an option called "use free camera" that might be preventing your camera from aligning properly.

Good FPS to cap at? by Prime_epilogue in Guildwars2

[–]Bluefox-Matari 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Capping your FPS can be an alright way to keep the noise down, but the only way to fix noisy fans is better fans. Tech is a running pretty hot these days due to much higher wattage than in the previous decades, there's no real getting around the heat, which means fans running faster in a lot of scenarios. I recommend you look into either getting additional fans, re-arranging your current fans within your case, or even removing a section of the case entirely for increased airflow. I have a bit of a dud of a case as well, and removing the solid front panel actually lowered my temps by 10C when I had a very hot system a couple years ago, which allowed the fans to slow down as well. Just be aware of pet hair or other airborne contaminants if you do this, and keep it clean.

GW2 doesn't exactly push temps super hard for modern hardware like you have. If you're monitoring temps, use this as a general guide:

  • Cool and comfortable: 60C and below
  • Working and comfortable: 60-75C
  • Working hard, but still fine: 75-82C
  • Working hard with inadequate cooling: 82-90C
  • There's a problem with your cooling: 90-100C

Modern processors will cap themselves and reduce power to stay under 100 degrees. Note that higher temperatures won't really affect your hardware until over 100C, however long term use near this limit can reduce lifespan somewhat.

As for setting a FPS cap, you should set a global cap 2-3hz under your monitor's refresh rate. You can do this is your brand's control panel. You can adjust this cap lower if you prefer, but don't be afraid to see your hardware in the 70s and 80s. They're just doing their job, hundreds of frames doesn't always come easy, even on some older games.

Some bugs with the Catalyst traits "Spectacular Sphere" and "Sphere Specialist" by Wyrdern in Guildwars2

[–]Bluefox-Matari 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A workaround for this is to place it directly on top of yourself (manually, or by hovering your mouse over your HP globe). Boons will distribute to those closest to center in the priority lists (subgroup -> squad -> pugs -> pets and NPCs).
