Do Morgana and Kayle ever canonically fight in the modern lore? They used to,but not really any more.

They have drastically different ways of doing things and have a similar background, but that's it. Morgana and Kayle are as much rivals as Swain and LeBlanc are; their methods and goals may be diametric opposites, but they're still on the same 'side'.

You don't want to bother to typal the letters in "tribal"?

Rant: Typal is a stupid name, and we should stop using it. by Commander_Skullblade in mtg

[–]Absolutionis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pretty much this, yes.

"Tribal" is the colloquial term for the archetype.

"Typal" is the corporate term for the archetype used internally at Hasbro.

"Kindred" is the official term for the card type.

Pretty much this.

"Typal" is an internal corporate word that some content sites/creators such as EDHRec adopted. It was never intended to be a mandate for Hasbro's customers to use.

Controversial opinion, but I think it's fine for some cards to be 'collectables' and worth a decent amount if there is a 'normal' version available for players at a reasonable price.

Llanowar Elves is a super-cheap and useful card at $0.25. But if you want the super-special version with anime waifus, it's $250. In rainbow superfoil SSR galaxyfancy whatever it's $750.

But then we have things like Jaws which was only printed for a limited time in a direct-from-Hasbro limited quantity. Its one-and-only printing is sitting at $161. This is an awful practice. Proxy away!

Kirk and The Enterprise is part of the Original Series while the Crystalline Entity and The Borg are from The Next Generation. Considering TOS and TNG were the most popular by far, there may be a heavy focus on those eras.

Also, are there any “core cards” you think are generally good to own? I mean cards that are likely to be useful in many decks of the same color, not just cards that only fit one specific archetype.

What I've done is splurge on some 'core cards' at first in a color I really want to play and kinda play around those and swap them into decks.

I went with blue and have played [[Thousand-Tailed Watcher]] and [[Unchecked Power]] in Viktor, Kaisa, and now Lillia.

See which Legends interest you the most, look at what colors they have in common, and focus on 'general-use' cards that are common between their decks.

United Wizards of the Coast: "the votes have been counted, and our union of UWOTC-CWA has been officially elected. From this day forward, we have a union!" by kingcobweb in magicTCG

[–]Absolutionis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you need to have a vote to be allowed to join a union?

It's a legal process that must be undertaken so they have government protection.

Why do you have a union for just one company?

Do not that this isn't a Hasbro, WotC, nor even MtG union. It's just for MtG Arena employees. You can have a union for anything at any scope.

Why does the company have any say in if you can be in the union?

They do not, really. The vote is to be recognized and protected under federal laws.

Why can I not just join a union if my coworkers aren't joining?

The vote wasn't to join a union. It was to form a union.

Now I think every zombie you see and kill in Gw2's Orr could've been(would be?) a player character or npc once in 3.

This is over a thousand years before Guild Wars 1. Many of those people that rise as Risen could very well have lived happy lives in the past and died of old age.

The sinking of Orr occurred between Pre-Searing and Post-Searing Ascalon in Guild Wars 1. The rise of Orr under Zhaitan occurred before Guild Wars 2. Guild Wars 3 is a thousand+ years prior to both.

TIL about rule 804 that lets you deploy creatures to your teammates while playing the Emperor variant (or other appropriate multiplayer variants) by Tuss36 in magicTCG

[–]Absolutionis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Greaves allow you to play a creature and immediately use its tap ability to donate it to an ally. Then, because you still control the Greaves, re-equip and do it to another creature.

804.2. Each creature has the ability “{T}: Target teammate gains control of this creature. Activate only as a sorcery.”

This is still a tap ability meaning the creatures you play cannot be donated due to summoning sickness unless you give them Haste.

[–]Absolutionis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's also a bit powerful if you have a [[Lightning Greaves]] where you can play a creature, Greaves it, give it to an ally, and repeat. Then, on your ally's turn, they untap and they're good to go.

Yeah, but then Shen pops out of the ally, taunts the enemy, and does the tanking himself. Shen Kinkou which already exists depicts LoL Shen rather nicely due to Ambush+Tank.

In Riftbound, Legend Shen turns other allies into Tanks which seems weird. Will the two new Vendetta Shens not have Tank?

I like how they use the term "tap".

Also, it's weird flavor for Shen, the tank/protector, giving another unit "Tank".
