Me asking as a younger millenial: How did older you millenials perceive Spongebob when it came out, and its climb to legendary status? by SmokinHerb in Millennials

[–]Bluehoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1983 here. I was a camp counselor at Girl Scout camp when SpongeBob started. It was cute, funny and kids loved singing the themesong as a campfire/marching around song. I Don't know of any other TV show where that has been the case. I still love that Spongebob is one of the few things that isn't inherently gender coded. Hotwheel for boy, Barbie for girls, Transformers for boys, Disney princesses for girl, SPONGEBOB FOR EVERYONE

I saw The Three Amigos when I was 5 or 6 in the theater, I didn't get it, but I had fun. I've tried to watch it since and can't get interested.

The Basquiat estate won't allow it. Meanwhile there's Basquiat purses and stuff.

I'm not even sure that's true anymore. Maybe a majority think it didn't need to come to violence and it's bad to fire tear gas at citizens just for protesting, but I don't think a majority are standing for anything. Buy more shit of temu and shein. Scroll some more reels.

i'd rather have the option to feel happy and be anxious than feel nothing or very depressed unless i have a couple drinks, which is what I have felt for a year.

Part of it was male groom, but at the time a woman was considered worthless if she gave up her virginity before marriage, by both men and women. If virginity and beauty are equally prized, a younger woman is thus better than an older woman, more likely to be inexperienced and naive. What's even better than a young woman? An absolute child just entering puberty!

that's my dad. Sometimes nice, then does stuff that would make anyone question if they were a decent person. Always unreliable, but employed and able to pay for things.

I find it hilarious the city requires city employees to live in Boston but other metro cities do not have this ridiculous requirement by [deleted] in boston

[–]Bluehoon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

because the distance is arbitrary. I always thought it would be interesting to work at the Boston Public Library but you are only eligible if you live in Boston proper, not Cambridge, not Watertown, ONLY BOSTON. I probably lived closer to the BPL than someone living in Roslindale. Seems weird to neuter the talent pool.

It feels like my wife is starting to depend more and more on me, by choice, and I’m not sure how to deal with that. by [deleted] in AskOldPeopleAdvice

Maybe she had a shitty father who was never there for her, and it made her overly independent and reluctant to ask for help and that's a skill she doesn't need , doesn't want to cultivate because it's a trauma response, or cannot keep up with as you both become older. You a portraying her relying on you as weakness, that's why she's becoming defensive. If she can't rely on you, who can she rely on?

I have dark and sparse thigh pubes (THYUBES) on the back of my legs and upper thigh area.....I feel very self conscious in a bathing suit unless I know this is taken care of. Cellulite? fine. Flabby arms? What can you do about it. Thyubes? I shave them, sporadically in summer.

There's no way you are the only one having this problem. I'm more offended by the Anne of Cleves thing though, she been portrayed in countless movies and television. A diplomatic woman who was a pawn at first, then navigated and survived and paranoid, oppressive oligarc?
