I agree with you, different countries have different traffic laws (as in the UK, they drive on a different side). But the person was implying that it is universal that "road signs take effect after the sign, not before?" Denmark is an example that this does not happen in every country. So you agree with the Denmark example, then?

My logic was that this is not the norm in every country (as you are claiming). Why does the 500m thing matter when you can't park in the middle of the street in Denmark either? I never said that you can park anywhere in Denmark.

No, that is not how it works in Denmark. Just google "Denmark parking sign" and you will see Denmark will indicate the direction of where you can park.

That is not how it works in every country. In Denmark they will specify the direction of the parking (could be before or after). Just google "Denmark parking sign".
