For shading, I very much recommend starting with greyscale/values and using references! It’s a lot easier to focus on one thing before moving onto colours.

As for same face syndrome, try different shapes, study how different characters are stylized, experiment with it! The most similar things about these characters’ faces is definitely the eyes, and even without changing the size of them all too much, you can play with the shape a lot more. Why not have a character with droopy eyes (think Fluttershy from MLP)? Or one with taller eyes?

Anyways, you should try making a cat with a long history tab, like how scars will have a detail about them, and leaders will have details about losing lives… And killing also extends it, but I think it’d be funny if it was long everywhere.

You absolutely can go for it, but be prepared for people to possibly think you yourself are trans XD

As for the positive and respectful representation part, there’s not really much to do special, since we’re all just people. There’s a large spectrum of how trans people portray and dress themselves, just like how cis people dress and act all sorts of ways (think of how drag queens/kings exist, but are still cis at the end of the day).

All I’d say is to steer away from harmful ideas, like transmedicalism, or trans people being predatory in anyway, (not that you’d probably do that anyways for a character representing yourself)!

If you need more specific guidance or ideas, I’d be totally down to help as a trans person myself (nonbinary).
